Trusted teacher: If you’re looking for a tutor to help you to learn a new skill/ rediscover playing the violin, or to help students to stay on track while we’re all at home, do get in touch! If you feel good, you play better! I like to approach each student individually, because we are all physically and mentally built differently. We all should leave a violin lesson feeling great! My teachers Mr. Ngai Ho Chau and Mr. Jeffrey Sit Pak Hong, have been my greatest influence when it comes to teaching. I like to approach each student individually, because we are all physically and mentally built differently. Most importantly, we all should leave a violin lesson feeling great! I have a 100% pass rate and my current sudents achieve a merit and distinction in the ABRSM performance grades1-8! A little about me: Born and raised in Hong Kong, my musical journey began at the age of five when I first picked up the violin. With the support of dedicated instructors, I built a strong foundation in technical precision and musical sensitivity, setting the stage for my future achievements. At the age of eight, I had the privilege of studying under Mr. Ngai Ho-Chau, the former concertmaster of the Hong Kong Philharmonic Orchestra. His mentorship not only refined my skills but also instilled in me a profound appreciation for musical expression and the value of diligent practice. Driven by a desire to reach new heights, I earned my LTCL Diploma with Distinction from Trinity London College at eighteen, a milestone reflecting countless hours of dedication. This achievement motivated me to further deepen my understanding of the instrument. Seeking new perspectives, I pursued advanced studies under the renowned violin maestro Mr. Hwang Wei-Ming at Taiwan SooChow University. There, I immersed myself in the art of violin technique, interpretation, and performance, gaining invaluable experience collaborating with talented musicians. Over the years, I received scholarships to study violin at Taiwan SooChow University and California Baptist University. These opportunities enriched my musical experiences and allowed me to perform in solo, chamber, and orchestral settings. My journey includes performances with ensembles such as the Hong Kong Metropolitan Youth Orchestra, Hong Kong Pro-Arte Orchestra, Taiwan SooChow University Orchestra, and Taiwan Rong-Shing Chamber Orchestra, among others. These experiences continue to inform my approach to teaching, allowing me to provide my students with practical insights and real-world performance techniques. Previously, I taught GCSE Music at Hollingworth Academy and provided violin instruction at The Hathershaw College and Radclyffe School, where I developed a holistic and student-centered teaching approach tailored to each learner's unique needs and goals. Currently, I am dedicated to teaching SEND students at The Peak School, where I strive to create a supportive and calming environment. I often incorporate live violin performances to help my students relax and connect with music on a deeper level. Additionally, I work with private violin students, including young musicians from Manchester High School for Girls and Withington Girls’ School, as well as those preparing for music scholarship auditions at prestigious institutions like London Westminster School. Recently, I had the pleasure of collaborating with Manchester-based artist Emma for her exhibition, Monton in Bloom. This opportunity allowed me to share my music in a creative and inspiring setting.

Jacob - Bristol£29
Trusted teacher: I am a Trombone, Music Theory, Music Technology, Studio Techniques, and Composition tutor based in Bristol, UK, with over 10 years of experience in performance and in the music industry. I love to teach and to see students excel to the best of their standards, and to reach their personal goals. Whether you are a beginner or looking to take your practice to a higher level, I can tailor my teaching to give a personalized experience for all age groups, with a dedication to helping you succeed. I have been playing trombone since the age of 9, and have studied and performed in a range of styles, from classical and jazz to reggae, soul, funk, ska, pop, and rock. I started playing with professional orchestras while still a teenager, and have studied with Amos Miller, Paul Nieman, and Adrian France, each of whom has taught me essential practices and techniques in a variety of styles. I have performed and recorded with a number of successful groups, ensembles, and projects, which include: Hotsteppas & Dub Princess, Timbali, Eastone Rockers, Lil Maxine, Fat Mark, Waggle Dance Records/The Co-operators, Wheel Up Records/Calculus, Gwari Music, Zoe Mazah, Rob Symmeonn, Urban Lions, Frankie, and the Heartstrings, Euphony Collective, Toothless Mary, Sussex Jazz Orchestra, and Martha Hill. I studied for a year at the Royal College of Music aged 17 and went on to study at Newcastle University, achieving 2:1 honors in 2015. In September 2021, I graduated a Master's degree in Innovation In Sound with Distinction, from DBS Sound & Music Institute, which has led me to work as a recording and live sound engineer with Eastone Recordings, a small Bristol-based studio, and production company. I have taught music theory for 7 years, helping students to reach Grade 5 and above, enabling them to progress in their musicianship, and to go on to study music at university. I believe that theory is not only an incredibly important part of learning music but can also be a fun way to engage with the different elements of music. Practical application of theory, as well as purely theoretical learning, is an essential way of solidifying the knowledge, and how I believe theory should be taught. Having studied Trombone, Piano, and Music Theory I have intimate knowledge of the ABRSM Grades and can offer tuition to help students achieve the grades they need. I also offer Music Technology, Studio Techniques, and Composition tuition which is informed by my work as a professional recording engineer, and through my research into experimental and extended studio practice. I have also gained writing and arranging credits for many of the groups listed above, composing for brass and whole ensembles. With this experience, I can offer expert assistance and guidance with students’ compositions, as well as the equipment and set up to help with this process, both at home and at the studio I work in.

Trusted teacher: PROFESSIONAL GUITARIST, COMPOSER, MUSIC AND GUITAR TEACHER Beginner-Advanced Level Experience: I am a professional musician and have been teaching students of all ages for over 20 years. My experience as a teacher and my pursuit of self-improvement as a musician have led me to develop an effective method that I have already tested with over a hundred students. Throughout my career I had the satisfaction of studying with great masters of different specialties or styles, each one emphasizing different aspects of flamenco, classical or modern guitar and each one has given me their approach (technique, rhythms, accompaniment, harmony, etc.), which has led me after years of study and compilation to take the best from each one to develop my method. My role in my classes is more that of a personal trainer than a teacher, where I will be very attentive to bringing out the best in my students, finding the right technique to help them develop a good rhythm, working on their rhythm, etc. For me, the role of a teacher, in addition to teaching, is to be part of a team, to maintain morale and constantly improve oneself while always maintaining a love for music. Methodology: I tailor the lessons to the student's level, style, or goals. Generally, the first half of the lesson is dedicated to technique, focusing on proper placement, execution, and relaxation, which will result in a good sound. Over time, I've realized that it's also a way to connect with the guitar, concentrate, and warm up. So, little by little, we'll develop our routine, which will begin by working on basic rhythmic aspects. The second half is dedicated to playing, trying to put into practice what we learned about the technique with the sticks or studying other concerns of the student, which may be a theme, harmony, falsetas, improvisation, or even other styles, etc., always obviously taking into account the search or interest of the student. FLAMENCO - Flamenco technique - Palos (Tangos, Bulerías, Alegrías, Soleá, Taranta...) - Accompaniment to singing and dancing - Clapping and rhythms MODERN GUITAR - Harmony - Improvisation - Repertoire (rumbas, pop, jazz, rock, etc.) CLASSIC - Reading, solfège and interpretation. - Works - I work with progressive learning books

Giorgia

I started my lessons with Giorgia four months ago, and I am so glad to have found her. As a 26-year-old beginner, I was not sure if I should even try to pursue learning an instrument at this point. But now I am so glad I did! I am learning online, and I was a little unsure of how lessons via webcam would go. Despite my prejudice, everything turned out great, even though my setup is quite basic. Her approach to teaching is very creative. She is able to explain things that seem hard to put into words, and she always finds comparisons and descriptions that convey clearly little details of approach that make a lot of difference in the end result. For any difficulty I encountered, she presented methods of exercise that helped correct it. Another thing that I appreciate is that from one lesson to the next, the volume of work is challenging enough that I feel I am making progress, but not to the point that I am overwhelmed. Also, even though I am just beginning and the pieces are not that complex, she explains the musical interpretation in a way that not only helps me advance my skill but also enriches the way I understand and listen to music, and I find great value in that. Her manner of teaching is very organic, and she is a patient teacher with a warm presence. I wholeheartedly recommend her lessons!

Leandro goes beyond just providing material; he teaches how to practice it effectively. Jacob is great, really encouraging and supportive. I'm a complete beginner, only a few lessons in, and already feel so much more confident not only with playing but with looking after the instrument and looking forward to learning more.
