In this course we will be introduced to a deeper and more interconnected musical knowledge through the piano. We will not only learn pieces for this instrument but we will also see the fundamentals of musical theory, we will practice intonation, auditory training (to recognize pitches, instrumental timbres, the structure of the pieces we listen to), improvisation and sound and musical creation (using sound and music technologies such as systems of harmony and counterpoint) and of course we will discuss historical musical events and reflect on different musical aesthetics. The objective of the course is to gain a broad understanding of musical phenomena and thus gain perspective to guide us towards those instruments, genres, styles and musical professions that most attract us.

My mission as a teacher is to transmit my love for music through everything I have learned throughout my studies in the last 20 years. I have experience since 2016 with individuals, colleges and schools, starting with students from scratch and also offering complementary reinforcement classes to their studies at the conservatory or school. My classes are completely adapted to the level and objectives of each student, getting to know them and trying to fully adjust to their concerns, their work rate and their personality. My teaching method is adapted to the curriculum of professional conservatories, my classes being a good option to support and reinforce the subject. For the musical initiation classes with the little ones, we begin with rhythm and height identification games, as well as proposing a first approach to music through singing and body percussion.

Are you in love with the sound of the cello but have never dared to start playing it? Have you been playing the cello as an amateur and now need an expert to guide you? Would you love to join a youth orchestra and need help preparing for the auditions? ... These are the private cello lessons you were looking for! My name is Miriam, I am a graduate in Master of Classical Music at KASK & Conservatorium in Ghent. My teaching methodology focuses on creating a friendly and relaxed environment (which does not mean undemanding!) in which students feel confident to express their own ideas and worries. In my lessons I focus on technical and postural questions, but we also reflect together on the music, as I like my students to develop their own musical ideas and not just imitate the teacher.
