Trusted teacher: I am a classical percussionist and a drummer, with many years of teaching and playing experience. I completed a Bachelor and a Master course in classical percussion in Italy, now I am studying a Master in Jazz & Pop drums at the HKU in Utrecht. I have an excellent knowledge of musical theory due to my studies and I love teaching because sharing my passion with others is important to me. I have experience teaching many students, between the ages of 5 and 50, since I was 18. I taught in two music schools, led projects in kindergartens and gave percussion instrument lessons in high schools. I trained students as percussionists in two school orchestras. Additionally, I used to write and produce learning materials with my students, to encourage accessible learning. My main teaching objective is to help students to find their personal way of playing and studying, without forgetting the most important thing; having fun. I understand that music should be fun, and those students not having fun will not get the best results. I usually start my lesson with the basics such as reading music, holding sticks and posture. I evaluate the student’s strengths and weaknesses, allowing them to reflect and evoke healthy self-criticism, to help them improve with a positive attitude.  I always try to inspire my students, and at the same time I am inspired by them, as by playing music together we can learn a lot from each other. Whilst my students have learned a lot from me, likewise, I have learned a lot from my students and this has been very valuable to my development.  I believe I would be an asset to you, because I am a flexible, open minded, experienced teacher.

My approach is to find suitable music for your technical and expressive level and work specifically on the challenges that it represents. Music is for everyone! Kids and adults Perhaps you want to surprise your couple playing a bossa-nova. Or maybe you want to become the next solo trombone at the Concertgebouw Orchestra. Everyone has different goals when playing the trombone, it is my job to help you achieve them. If you don't have clear objectives yet, I will be guiding you and exploring the possibilities of trombone playing with you. Also, especially for kids, I can help you find a nice pBone. They are lightweight plastic trombones made with great quality and available in different colours! Good technique, and a lot of fun The most important lesson I have learned in my career is that making good music is only possible when you enjoy the process. Of course, good technical skills are crucial but studying exercises that you find boring is not the best way up to proficiency. Instead, finding your unique best approach to improve your skills will get you to the moon! For improving your tempo awareness, would you practice with a metronome or would you rather use a drumbeat sample? Your health is important! Body awareness and breathing techniques Not only wind players benefit from doing sport, acquiring good posture habits, and being aware of their breath. It helps everyone in every single aspect of their lives. A good breathing technique will let you play easily, run for a longer period of time, or sleep better at night. On the other hand, body posture awareness helps with productivity and saves money on the fysio. Life hacks that you cannot miss! Improvisation and open-mindedness That very feeling of creating art on the spot. Only a few experiences can relate to it. When we explore and create, our flow state gets triggered. Ok but, how will my lessons look like? Breathing practice is one of the best ways to start warming up. It will take the first 5 minutes of your lesson and your body will be prepared to start playing. Then, we would go into working on your specific goals. Perhaps, we are practicing music that demands improvement on the higher register, maybe we are working out different scales for improvisation, or it might be the case that you want to discover a new genre and go deep into it. Reading music, ear training, phrasing, music theory, buzzing and embouchure position, articulations (legato, staccato, accents), dynamics... These are only an indication of what we might work on. The final minutes of your lesson will be the moment to relax. We can get creative, play some tunes together, improvise, or even talk about a specific topic like musicality, art, creativity, technique, theory, or the music industry for instance. I have always been very interested in understanding and learning more about my mother tongue and I have been teaching Spanish (for 7 years already) through private lessons to both children and adults who want to learn this language. My teaching method will be adapted to the student: I don't have a fixed method because I believe that each person learns better in a unique way that is adapted to them. I like knowing the student, knowing their motivation to learn and why they want to learn the language. In my classes I use various learning methods, based on play and understanding the logic of the language. Keeping it dynamic! Sometimes I follow the order of modules from a Spanish book, other times I work through stories or through Spanish novels, songs, movies, other people prefer to base the class on conversation, or learn in Spanish about different cities in Spain (language + culture), etc. I always adapt the lessons to the needs and preferences of the student or their parents. - The teaching method will be discussed in the first session, in order to have a clear idea of the student's goal and their preferences. I usually like to divide the class into different parts, depending on the level and age of the student: but there is always a conversational part in Spanish (theory is important, but speaking is when you learn the most).
