During my studies in Econometrics at the University of Amsterdam (graduated in 2015, MSc.) and in addition to my job as a consultant, I have always taught mathematics and statistics to secondary school students and university students (HBO and WO) with great pleasure. I give personal chess lessons to beginners, juniors, and advanced players. With a KNSB rating of approximately 2100 and chess experience since the age of 6, I help students not only to find better moves, but above all to understand why a move is right or wrong. A higher rating does not automatically mean that someone is the best coach for every level. Especially for players between approximately 1000 and 1900, I find it important to explain chess ideas clearly, understandably, and practically. My goal is for you to be able to actually apply the knowledge you have learned independently during your own games. I’m a former primary school teacher with over eight years of private tutoring experience in Amsterdam. I’ve worked with students attending Dutch, British and other international schools, including the British School and ISA, and am familiar with the different curricula and expectations. I specialise in working with students with ADHD and other learning differences. I have experience in both Pop and Jazz styles (a Bachelor in Jazz Singing and a degree in Jazz Composition), so it's possible to study songs from both these repertoires. I also give Music Theory lessons, to make the student develop his/her own style and musical sensibility and, in the case of Jazz, to know how to improvise on different chord changes and jazz styles.
