I always tailor the lesson according to the specific student need, goal and learning process. Part of the lesson is dedicated to music theory as well, and I have a wide range of violin duos (all levels covered) that I often play along with the student.
I prepare students for violin exams (ABRSM, Trinity Guildhall), as well as nurture the passion for Music as extracurricular pastime.

About Me

I am a professional violinist, and I have a long experience in education as well.
Having studied and worked in three different countries, I am used to interact in a multi-cultural and international environment.
I currently freelance with chamber orchestras such as the London Mozart Players, the Academy of St Martin in the Fields, and collaborate as well with symphonic orchestras including Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, The RPCO and Oxford Philharmonic Orchestra.
I have taught for a few years in a secondary school, as well as having collaborated with Cardinal Vaughan School, Greenwich Music School and Blackheath Conservatoire.

With a first-class degree in music and 15 years' experience of playing violin and piano, I teach violin, piano and music theory at all levels.

Having also been involved in various outreach projects in schools and nurseries, I am an experienced music tutor and base my lessons around the love of music whilst improving technical skills and musicality.

I have played in orchestras across the world, including for the Victorian Youth Symphony Orchestra (Melbourne, Australia), the University of Manchester Symphony and Chamber Orchestras and at venues such as the Royal Albert Hall (London, UK) and the Birmingham Symphony Hall (Birmingham, UK).

Since obtaining a BMus (Hons) Degree in 2012, Rhiannon has worked as a freelance violinist internationally with companies such as Burberry & Polydor Music, with orchestras by the likes of BBC concert Orchestra & Nu Civilisation Orchestra, at venues including the Royal Festival Hall, Queen Elizabeth Hall & Ronnie Scotts, in studios including Elstree Studios & BBC Maida Vale Studios, and in festivals including the EFG London Jazz Festival, WOW Women of the World Festival & Crossing Borders Festival in the Netherlands. Rhiannon has experience playing a wide range of genres from working with award-winning artists including Jess Glynne (Pop), Anna-Jane Casey (Theatre), Anne-Sofie Von Otter (Opera), Isabella Melodies (Gospel) & Le Gateau Chocolat (Cabaret). She is the proud Youth Ambassador for the company Black Women In Arts, lead violinist of Tomorrow's Warrior's String Ting, lead violinist of the Nu Civilisation Orchestra, and leads the affiliate orchestra to Jazz Jamaica All-Stars.

Everyone's musical journey is different and many people decide to learn an instrument for a different reason. Therefore, the regular structure for a lesson would very much differ from person to person. For example, beginners would mostly focus on sight-reading, proper form and technique. However, someone with a slight musical background could begin by learning pieces that they want to play and I would guide them with how to encompass the piece better and make slight adjustments to their technique along the way.
When it comes to young children, I've worked in nursery and primary schools with ages from 3-7. The most important thing is that they have fun during the lessons and gain a real respect for music early on. Technique, theory and sight-reading are still incredibly important but what's most important is that the child is having an enjoyable time while learning.

I have a strong musical background as I've been playing violin and piano for 14 years, I also have a great understanding of music theory. I've performed in multiple concerts of sizes of up to 5000 attendees. I was also established enough to have achieved a full music scholarship to a performing arts secondary school and college. At GCSE I achieved an A* in music and I would be more than happy to help GCSE music students with their music theory and/or composition piece.

I have been coaching children and adults, both amateurs and professionals, in various settings: music schools, academies, theatre workshops and privately. To train musicality, I often teach this through the use of Kreutzer and Fiorillo etudes, Dont studies, and also pieces of repertoire catered to the student's musical interests and technical requirements.
– I am open to considering student repertoire suggestions if they are particularly passionate about a certain piece.

– Typically violin lessons range in length from 30 minutes to an hour, but I am flexible: I am more than happy to devise a lesson structure that caters for a student's requirements.

Whether you are a complete beginner and want to start on your musical journey or looking to refine your playing and take it to the next level, my lessons are designed to meet you where you are and help you grow with confidence. I offer one-to-one violin lessons for all ages and skill levels with a supportive and structured approach. I am highly adaptable to any of your goals and desires, whether it’s to make your first steps in violin playing, develop a general understanding of musical language, prepare for a certain grade exam or just play for fun. My aim is to make learning enjoyable and share the love for music with my students. My lessons are carefully designed to suit everyone. It usually consists of the foundation of the violin technique, a wide range of repertoire, carefully selected for every individual, historical context of the compositions, music theory and aural skills, however, it depends greatly on the goal of each student and can differ in each case. I have been teaching for over three years, both in person and online, with students’ ages ranging from 4 to 48 years old, and enjoyed helping them move towards their dream, whether it is to be able to play a tune from their favourite song, or a classical concerto. The lessons should be fun and joyful - bring excitement, inspiration and encouragement for achievements! In my teaching, that is what I believe in and strive for.
