I have been playing the piano for around 6 years. Since it is not my main instrument, I have had to find ways of learning it on my own already as an adult. Therefore, I have developed my own method to understand how the instrument works, which works especially well with beginners.
I truly love the piano and I love seeing how passionate my students get when they learn how to make music with this instrument. If you want to get started with the piano or the songs you're playing are becoming a bit harder, I am the teacher you're looking for!

About Me

Hey! My name is Iván and I am a musician. I am currently pursuing my Master's in Percussion at the Royal Conservatoire of Antwerp. I also play the piano since 6 years ago.
I enjoy teaching a lot and would like to make a professional career out of it. I have been teaching Spanish for around 3 years and piano and percussion for 2 years.
Some of my interests are music, languages, reading, running, decoration and travelling.
I consider myself a social and empathic person, with ease to connect with students of all ages and backgrounds. In my lessons, I always try to make the learning process as easy and fun as possible, so that both the student and me enjoy it.

Spanish Lessons for all ages (Beginner to Advanced)

I have been a Spanish tutor for almost three years. I am a language lover and enjoy learning and teaching languages. Living in a world where we are exposed to so many learning tools, such as books, online platforms or courses, I still believe that the best way to learn a new language is to sit and have a chat with a native speaker. Therefore, I give a more practical insight into the Spanish language in my lessons. In other words, I teach you things that a book or a course will not provide you.
I am willing to teach both theory and conversation to any kind of student, whatever your age or level. If you are motivated to learn and improve your Spanish, you are talking to the right teacher!

Percussion lessons for all ages (Beginner to Advanced Level)

I have been playing percussion for 15 years. Taking lessons with many different teachers has allowed me to develop a very broad approach to the various instruments in the world of percussion.
Every person understands music differently, therefore I try to find the most suitable way to learn to play percussion with each student.

Welcome to my piano teaching studio! I am a professional pianist offering private piano and theory lessons for students of all levels. As a pianist with over 14 years of teaching experience in Europe and the USA, as well as over 23 years of playing/performing, I enjoy motivating my students with music of their own preferred style and interest, whether that be classical or contemporary. My main goal is to promote a positive experience and love for music-making during the learning process. If the student is interested in a more structured approach, I guide preparation for grades 1-8 of the Associated Board of the Royal Schools of Music (ABRSM) piano and music theory exams where my students consistently receive highest marks. I also have successful experience preparing students for conservatory entrance auditions, masterclasses, and competitions in the Europe, the USA, India, and Canada. We have class concerts at Pianos Maene for interested students twice per year. I am happy to provide either a more relaxed or a serious approach to learning piano, we simply need to discuss the personal goals and preferences of each student.

My own studies are as follows: I have obtained two postgraduate performance degrees at the Royal Conservatory of Antwerp: "Concertsoloist" in Piano Performance and "Chamber Music” (under the guidance of esteemed professor Sergei Edelmann). Prior to this, I received my Bachelor and Masters degrees in Piano Performance/Music from the University of Minnesota - Minneapolis (with Prof. Lydia Artymiw) and Texas Christian University, Fort Worth (with Dr. Tamas Ungar). My experience includes collaboration with many different instrumentalists and singers, performing as a soloist and collaborative member in several orchestras, and receiving top prizes in several competitions. While maintaining my performance and recording career in Belgium at present, I am developing my private music studio in central Antwerp and look forward to meeting new students.

It is possible to follow a combination of music theory and instrument, or only focus on one aspect.

Depending on the student's goal, the level, teaching method and music styles are adjusted and personalized in consultation.
Together we will look at what your learning needs are and which method suits you best.

As a teacher I am familiar with different styles, from classical music (baroque, impressionism, classicism, romanticism and contemporary music), to folk music, jazz standards, pop songs or minimalist music.
