My name is Alexandre, and I am a percussionist with a Master's degree in Performance, which I completed last year. Currently, I am pursuing a Master's degree in Music Pedagogy and Contemporary Music at the Musik Akademie Basel.

I have six years of teaching experience with students of all levels, so whether you are a beginner or an experienced musician looking to refine your skills, I am here to help. I offer try-out lessons for those who are interested in learning or improving on these instruments.

About Me

I consider myself quite a flexible teacher who has learned to adapt to different students' personalities and music difficulties trying always to keep the student interested, motivated and a sense of fun. At the same time giving him/her enough challenges so that the student still feels improvement.

I try to always listen to a students' and parents' motivations in order to find common interests in such a big music world.

I have a lot of experience playing in professional ensembles and orchestras such as: Portuguese Chamber Music, Drumming GP and Neue Philharmonie München.
For the past years I have taught in different places: Wind bands, private schools and individual lessons with kids spanning from (4 years to 18 years old).

Are you someone that is interested in learning how to play the drums, or someone that is looking to further your development on the instrument? I can help you!

Whether you’re just looking for a new hobby, a different creative outlet or if music is already a serious passion for you, these lessons are for you. In our lessons, you will acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to be able to play various styles and in various situations- jazz, funk, pop, rock, metal or hip-hop.

The following topics are covered:

Learning essential grooves in different styles/genres
Listening to and learning songs by ear
Technique and sound on the instrument
Sight reading (and music theory, if needed or requested)
Improvising/jamming
Each student has their own curriculum designed to help them progress according to their wishes. If you’re looking to play drums just for the fun of it, or if you’re someone that is looking to study and play on a professional level, these lessons will be suited to your needs.

I'm a long experienced drummer and percussionist, specialised in improvised music, jazz and creative music in general, even though my professional activitity spans from contemporary to pop music.
I have accomplished my Bachelor and Masters study in Italy, and since september 2023 I moved to Basel to do a Specialised Master in composition, performance and improvisation.

With many years of experience in private teaching and two years as associate professor at the Conservatory of Milan, I love to deal with committed, passionate and curious musicians at any point of their musical carreer, weather they might want to study just for fun, passion, or as a way to enter the profesisonal world of music.
I'm available to teach to drummers and percussionist, as well as other instrumentists that may want to deepen their understanding and practicing on rhythm.

My artistic research is about time and space, that find their realisation in colors and rhythms. As I graduated also in Foreign Lenguages and Literatures, I like to have also a linguistic approach to music and to musical genres.
Some of my main practice interests:
- rhythm and dance
- rhythm and body
- rhythmic approaches in XX century music (mainly minimalism, serialism, spectralism, new music)
- historical approach to rhythm and music
- rhythmic folk traditions from different countries (india, africa, south america, eastern europe)
- polyrhythms
- odd meters
- microrhythms

I see music, drums, percussions and teaching as one of the most beautiful ways to deepen our humanness and understaning of ourselves and the others.
