I’m a drummer with grade 8 Rockschool drums and grade 5 theory. 1st Class Honours graduate in Music Production & Performance living in Leeds. Combing my vast gigging experience across a range of styles from rock to Latin, orchestral groups and percussion ensembles, I know how to gear a lesson to each student. Each lesson will be tailored to each student’s requirements and preferences. I will ensure that each drummer has the accompanying level of music theory to compliment their drumming as this is an area often overlooked by perspective drummers and teachers. As a multi-instrumentalist I will also give you, the drummer, a wider approach to learning music, ensuring that you know how to complement each aspect of the music and ensemble playing. Lessons need to be and will be fun to ensure each student can develop the skills and techniques to give them the strong foundations of learning the drums.

Ulster-Scot Pipe Band Snare Drumming is an art all of its own! With high technical ability required with ultimate hand-control but a ability that sets no limits, I can help you achieve this! This class is for beginner/learner drummers who are either interested in learning a new style of drumming or aspiring to go further and higher! The focus in this tuition is to learn to play drum scores which begin at amateur level to advanced and high-level performance. The class will begin by teaching and demonstrating the 'traditional grip' of the sticks on both hands, then the explanation and theory of basic notes, rudiments and generic mass band scores to get started! You'll learn a variety of rudiments which are specifically designed to help improve your hand-control and speed which take you from a beginner to an advanced drummer in little time! If you are an absolute beginner, don't worry, I am currently teaching a young boy of 8 years old which only a couple of months ago couldn't hold the sticks but now can play 3/4, 4/4 and 6/8 march drum scores!

I am a qualified professional pianist with many years of experience in teaching and live performance. I studied Classical Music and I graduated in Piano at the Conservatory of Perugia, Italy (10 year course, final exam: RECITAL 1,10 h). I also studied jazz and over the years I have played in jazz big bands, jazz ensembles such as trios, quartets and quintets. I also play the keyboards in many bands playing different styles and genres: funk, soul, blues and pop. This variety of knowledge makes me a very versatile teacher who can easily adapt to the students’ preferences and interests. In the teaching field I have many years of experience with both children and adults. Up until now, I have taught in three different schools, giving one to one and group lessons, coordinating bands, running workshops and organising end of term concerts, which bring together learners of different ages, who play different instruments, at different levels. In the piano course, students start to play at the first lesson with both hands, reading music and beginning to understand music theory. During the course we approach different music styles with a lot of space for chords, jazz improvisation and playing modern songs. The same happens in the drums and bass course. I pride myself of really motivating my learners by showing them concrete results from day one. From the first lesson my student will be able to play a melody and with my accompaniment they will get the feeling of having played a complete piece of music. This excitement will be their drive in the learning process and the necessary push to play solo on stage and in bands.

Drums are the back bone of any band or ensemble, determining the tempo, style and feel. But most importantly they're A LOT of FUN! In my 4 years experience of drum tutoring, with at one stage teaching over 30 pupils per week, I have found that everyone learns differently. I ensure my lessons are unique to your way of learning, allowing you to progress quickly and love the process. I cover all music theory for the drums from the start but also the art of improvisation to allow pupils to play freely and express their own style.
