Do you want to make people dance when you play? Is there that crazy drum part you just can't get right? Do you wish to manage the dynamics, the space, the sound of a song? Do you need help to prepare exams? ..(....)

Well, there's no one way to do things, and everybody has strengths and weaknesses. So, I propose we see together what is it that doesn’t come out just like you’d want it, and let’s find the right solution for you!

My priority as a teacher is to nurture my student’s passion for music. It is essential that playing the drums remains, above all, a fun and stimulating experience, and that studying is a consequence of this passion. Therefore I am devoted to fostering one's desire to improve, and I do provide all the tools necessary to overcome the challenges that you may face along the way.

My study program is holistic and is always tailored to your needs, your inclinations and your objectives.
All ages, all levels and all music tastes are welcome!

Some of the topics I like to cover:

- ergonomics, balance, grip
- brute technique and the rudiments
- hands and feet coordination
- the styles; style-chorent fills and variations
- the groove, the timing and the slowness
- reading and memory, the mental map
- copy the greats, listen to the records
- finding the sound
- playing with others and musicianship

About Me
I hold 20 years of experience in playing the drums, in so many different context, and 9 years in teaching. I am proficient and engaged in a wide variety of music styles, including Rock, Pop, Funk, Jazz, Afro-cuban, Brazilian, Metal, Free-form and improvised. I also have skills in music theory, history of music (classical, jazz, popular), music production and arrangement.
I always was heavily involved in my home-region music scene, but I moved to London in 2019 to share paths with the group “Tankus The Henge”, with which I have toured extensively across the UK and Europe, leading large-stage performances at the likes of Glastonbury, Boomtown, Transmusicales, Isle of Wight and hundreds of medium-sized festivals and venues.
Now I am active in the London music scene, mainly with the contemp-jazz combo Pangea.
Throughout my professional career, I have recorded as a session player and as a core member of a vast array of projects, many of which have also had me in production roles.

Isaac is an award-winning clarinettist, teacher and arranger. He graduated with Distinction from the Royal College of Music as an HR Taylor Trust Scholar, studying Masters of Performance. In 2021, he graduated first class as a Bachelor of Music from the Royal Welsh College of Music and Drama, where he won the college's Concerto Competition. He is originally from a small village in Northamptonshire.

At a young age, Isaac has a wealth of experience in teaching across all levels of education. He has managed his private studio for half a decade, whilst currently holding the position of woodwind tutor at West London Free School, previously Loughton Music Academy Trust and World Heart Beat Music Academy. Alongside working with RCM & RWCMD Juniors departments, and RCM Sparks programmes as workshop support staff, Isaac has worked with the outreach departments of the London Mozart Players, Neville Holt Opera and Royal Scottish National Orchestra. He is also an ongoing self-employed tutor at BSharp Studios, Marie de Bry Arts Academy, Forte Lessons, Lycaeum Tutors, and London Music Tutors; he is also on the roster of the RCM Teaching Service. In 2022, his wind quintet, Ormonde Ensemble, won a place on the Wigmore Hall Chamber Tots Training and Development Scheme, a unique opportunity for musicians to develop their skills and experience as supporting musicians in early-year practice.

Isaac approaches teaching with a young, fresh mindset with a heavy focus on a strong musical foundation, problem-solving, practice “hacking”, determination and, above all, enjoyment. He has been commended for his relatability and calm, patient but efficient manner. He believes that the perfect teacher enables the pupil to become their own teacher! Being able to have clear direction and goals is of paramount importance. Also, having the capacity to ask “Why is this working/not working?” and having ideas on how to fix them is the fastest way to progress.

After studying performance psychology alongside his clarinet studies at RCM and during his exchange in Finland, Isaac is deeply passionate about how the mind affects how we play and practice. He draws mostly from academics such as Anders Ericsson and Mihaly Csikszentmihalyi, and countless world-leading clarinet players whom he has been fortunate to learn from.

Being an active professional musician by trade means Isaac is always striving to be on the top of his playing, which bolsters teaching practices immensely, allowing lessons to be driven through first-hand and recent experiences. This facilitates constantly fresh ideas for his pupils to work on alongside regular fundamentals. Isaac works regularly as a guest with some of the top orchestras in the country, such as the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, Philharmonia Orchestra, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and London Mozart Players, among others. He has recently been appointed as one of the Philharmonia’s ‘MMSF Emerging Artists’ for the 2023/24 season.

Isaac’s rates factor in all the financial obligations of being self-employed, such as holiday pay, sick pay, pension contributions, familial leave, additional travel, increased preparation time or greater responsibility. Current inflation rates, including global food prices and transport costs, are also a continual factor in the fee. They also follow the recommended teaching rates for this location put forward by the Musician's Union, of which Isaac is a member. This is to avoid undercutting other tutors, whilst still wishing to provide affordable lessons.

Lessons can be 30, 45 or 60 minutes: 30 minutes is ideal for young beginners, 45 for adult beginners and older pupils. 60 minutes for advanced players or those who wish to learn Music Theory in tandem.

Do get in touch with Isaac to organise a lesson in Chiswick or the surrounding areas (within reason and subject to travel costs included), or to request more info!

I believe lessons should be first and foremost enjoyable, but also serve as a means to break new ground and inspire as much practice as possible at home! So we'll start by establishing an objective of the student's choice that reflects their ambitions, and then work through the appropriate techniques, exercises, and repertoire that allows us to get there in as enjoyable a way as possible!

Lessons will be supplemented with listening/aural exercises, music theory training, and performance/contextual discussions (if necessary!).

Evie studied music at university in London and has been playing violin and viola for over 20 years. She is interested in a broad range of music, which she hopes to share with students of all ages and abilities in their lessons. As a performer, Evie plays in various settings - folk, jazz, in bands, as well as more typical orchestral and chamber ensembles. Her own musical interest currently lies in folk, baroque music and improvisation.

Evie has been teaching a broad range of students for the last eight years: those who wish to take graded exams, those looking to explore folk and improvisation, expand their repertoire, or brush up on technique. She also currently teaches group violin classes at a primary school in London.

She has found that encouraging a structured and regular practice at home, if possible with the help of a parent or guardian, is the best way to reach goals and feel confident while playing. Most of all, she encourages students to be open-minded, inquisitive, and ready to listen to a variety of music! Evie is always ready to cater specifically to the needs and interests of the student, and to create a comfortable and relaxed atmosphere. In lessons, she will cover sight-reading, exam preparation, music theory, focused technique, improvisation, standard repertoire, and any music the student may wish to explore on their instrument.
