My name is Laura I’m a professional cellist from London, England and have lived in Germany for 4 years.
I believe that learning the cello or any form of music, at any age or level should lead to a positive addition to your life. I teach beginners (any age) to intermediates to advanced students who might be looking to peruse to instrument as a professional career. I am happy to discuss needs or requests of the students or if they have certain goals they would like to prepare for in mind!

About Me
British cellist Laura MacDonald, is currently based in Germany enjoying a varied musical career. A passionate chamber musician, she has performed throughout Europe at venues including Wigmore Hall, NDR Kleine Saal, Kings Place.
She attends festivals including IMS Prussia Cove Masterclass and Open Chamber Music, Heidelberger Frühling, Jeunesses Musicales, Maiastra Chamber Music, Whittington Festival. She also performs with ensembles in Europe including Stegreif Orchestra, O Modernt and Das Neu Ensemble. Laura is a founding member of Mad Song, contemporary classical music ensemble based in London. They perform regularly around the UK, and have also in Germany as part of the Ensemble Modern Ensembles Academy. They have recently recorded their debut album which will be released in the upcoming season. She also is a member of Trio Claudel, piano trio based in Salzburg. They have recently joined the MeritaCubed artists platform and in 2025 received the Mozarteum Ensemble
Stipendium which supported their concert and outreach tour to Brazil.
From August 2024-2026 she was a member of the Kurt Masur Academy of the Dresdner Philharmonie, and has also performed with orchestras CBSO, BBC National Orchestra of Wales and English Chamber Orchestra.
Laura studied at the Royal Academy of Music London, receiving the Regency Award upon graduation, and Guildhall School, before continuing her studies at the Hannover Hochschule für Musik.
