The guitar is undoubtedly one of the most popular instruments of the modern age. It is so versatile and used in many genres ranging from classical music to Death Metal and even Electronic Music.

I will teach you the basics of playing the guitar, and I'll spice it up later with my experience in composition and songwriting. We will learn by example through the famous songs that shaped our understanding of the guitar. Whether you prefer singer-songwriter-style songs, or thrash metal we'll get there together.

I will teach mainly using the guitar tablature format, we can do sheet music which is generally unneeded for anything besides classical, but I will need to refresh my music sheet reading skills as I haven't had to read any in the last 10 years.

I am an experienced and enthusiastic guitar tutor from Leeds, England, living in Berlin. I have a bachelor’s degree in jazz guitar from Leeds College of Music although I also play and teach rock, pop, funk, folk, and indie music.

In lessons, I aim to get students to play something they know as soon as possible in order to get excited about progress early on. We balance this with paying attention to proper technique and having one eye on the theory behind what we are playing to broaden your understanding of how music works.

I am actively engaged in playing within the music scene and have a real excitement for all types of music, whether it’s learning your first chords on guitar or working on improvisation or music theory. We'll go at the right pace for you and achieve your goals together.

I have experience teaching all ages and abilities of students, having taught in primary and secondary schools as well as private tuition for adults. From complete beginners to preparing a student for their college auditions.

Lessons are tailored to suit the needs of the student, in order to have lessons that push you to learn to the best of your ability whilst still being fun and musical.

Through time I have found out that starting by playing songs chosen by the student and creating exercises to practice that came out from the drums of that song is a very good way to learn how to play the instrument. Also keeps things interesting, since music is always the focus. I can help to choose the songs, but the student is always who decides which songs to play. This way, lessons become 100% personalized!

I have +10 years of experience as a teacher, and I'm an active musician in the Berlin modern jazz, creative music and improvised music scenes.
Obtained my bachelor's degree in the Manuel de Falla Music Conservatory in Buenos Aires (ARG) and the European Jazz Master degree at NTNU Trondheim, RMC Copenhagen and JIB Berlin.

👂 My motto for teaching music: Learn with your ear, before understanding it with your brain.

Music can be explained entirely from a theoretical point of view 🤯. But I'm convinced that the best approach is to feel and sing the music 🎤💖, before understanding and interpreting it theoretically.

I teach music theory intuitively 💫. More than just a way of reading sheet music, I can show you how to deconstruct a piece of music in any genre, how to interpret chords, and how to improvise simply and effectively.

How to work the voice ? Practice ? Perform ? Compose ? Interpret a song ?
It's through technic but also practising songs from your favourite artists that you understand how to place your voice and sing your song and achieve your musical journey. Starting from the basics like breathing support, vocal routines, learning songs to practising stage presence, composition.
In my classes, I go through all this points and focus on what the student needs and wish to learn.

I had the chance to learn with the greatest Jazz singers of the New York scene. I studied, Jazz, Pop, Classical singing, which lead me to understand the voice in its full. For five years I focused on performing and touring with my different projects, and there I built my skills for the stage and being comfortable in front of a crowd.

Hi!

Have you ever dreamed of strumming your guitar to your own original songs, feeling that electric thrill of creating something truly yours? My name is Aleksi and I am a Berlin based guitar teacher, singer, musician and professional songwriter. I am offering private guitar lessons (EN) with an added focus on songwriting. With me you can learn techniques like:

🎸 Guitar Mastery: From basic chords and fingerpicking to advanced techniques like soloing and singing and playing at the same time. I'll help you become the guitarist you’ve always wanted to be.

📝 Songwriting Skills: Unleash your creativity and learn how to craft songs that resonate. From writing legendary lyrics to creating memorable melodies, I'll help you find your unique voice.

Whether you are a beginner (looking at a blank piece of paper and not knowing where to even start) or an experienced player (playing the same chords over and over again wondering what the next step is); my lessons are open to everyone with a love of music and a willingness to learn.

Lessons are provided in my dedicated home studio room near Sonnenallee.

I am really looking forward to hearing about you and what you are looking to learn!

My lessons combine practical playing with music theory, so students not only improve technically but also develop a deeper understanding of music. Depending on the students' goals, the lessons can also include rhythm training, ear training, and improvisation.

I also enjoy working with students who are interested in the creative side of music, including composition, songwriting, and arrangement.

I believe that learning music should be fun, and I adapt my lessons to the wishes and needs of the students.
