Hi there! My name is Jack, and I'm a native speaking English teacher from Great Britain. I have a CELTA teaching qualification from Cambridge English, and more than four years of experience teaching English in primary and secondary schools, private language schools, English language summer camps, and private English classes.

I offer private classes for children, teenagers, and adults, preparation classes for the Cambridge or school exams, and conversation classes. I aim to push students to get the best they possibly can out of classes without overwhelming them, and I offer periodic progress reports.

Conversation is the best method for learning a language. In my classes we will speak a lot to practice fluency, grammar, vocabulary and exam preparation. Alongside this I normally include a mixture of games and activities that have been proven to aid learning. I strongly believe that the best classes are fun and interesting, but also academically rigorous.

Extra information

All you need to bring is a pen and paper, and a coursebook if you have one already. I am more than happy to either set or not set homework depending on how much time you have between lessons, and I offer a discount on group classes of up to four people.

About Me

I have been teaching English for over four years now, and I love it. I think that lessons should be fun, dynamic, interesting and relevant to the student. However they should also be academically rigourous, and students should be able to feel and see that they are making clear progress if they are willing to put the effort in.

I think that good conversation, games and activities are important, and that students should have to think in class, not just repeat grammar and vocabulary practice with no real application.

I have a good British sense of humour, and I appreciate it when students do too, but my favourite students are the ones that go the extra mile and challenge themselves by immersing themslevs in English outside of the classroom by listening, reading, and watching content in English, and who practice speaking with anyone they can!

When not teaching, I like to spend my time playing or watching sport, listening to music or watching films / series, reading about politics and history, and hiking in the mountains!
