We can also work on technique and styles of voice suited to you. I am young and fun and want to share my passion of performing and to help others be their best performer.

About Me

Hello, My name is Joanna (Jo) and I am a performing arts teacher. I produce singing and acting lessons tailored for you. Wether it be technique, confidence, or just someone to perform to and give feedback. I am young and happy and want to help people be confident and ready for shows / auditions / exams etc.

Education

I studied National diploma in performing arts at a local college where I extended my learning in ballet, tap, jazz and all round musical theatre. I achieved triple distinction.

I have over 15 years of teaching experience and have taught winners of The Voice and X-Factor. My tailored approach to teaching customizes lessons for your needs and vocal requirements. One to One lessons will help you to understand how your voice works and how to get what you want from it. You will increase your confidence and allow your voice to reach its full potential in a safe, supportive, encouraging environment with a teacher who truly wants to help you to be the best you can be!

I am a classically trained professional singer with many years of experience in the professional working world both on cruise ships, in shows and abroad.

I can tailor each class to suit the specific needs of each student, I have extensive experience in teaching musical theatre, belt, breath control, support, posture, effective vocal warm ups, preventing vocal injury.

I am available to teach all levels from beginner to advanced

Learn how your voice works, how to sing in a healthy way alongside professional techniques as well as performance skills.

Techniques covered:

• breathing from the diaphragm & recoil
• Increasing range
• voice placement
• vocal health
• belting safely & easily
• correct larynx position
• vocal fry and cry
• appogio breathing
• confidence building

Singing is an incredible skill to have. Whether it is to improve confidence or to try and forge a career within the arts. I delve into the technique of singing and look at how acting through song can enhance a performance and indeed the sound of the voice. Every song has a story. From start to finish you want to colour the words and make them interesting.

I also want everyone to gain confidence in my lessons. Being confident is the first step in the world of vocal studies.

I tend to start my lesson with a substantial warm up just to make sure we are being safe when singing and warming up sufficiently. The next step to work through a song. Looking at how to improve the song. As we move through I tend to look at one subject per session for example how to use belt properly? Or how to add falsetto? Or pop inflections?

It all depends on the lesson itself.

Singing lessons either for general genres such as pop/ rock and/or specialise in Musical Theatre singing combining with acting through song.

Also offering Acting lessons to work on individual skills to assist with any outside work students may want to bring.
