I am the founder of the fashion brand Johannes Warnke and an actively practising designer, bringing an industry-focused approach to teaching. I support students in developing strong, competitive portfolios for university applications and professional roles, with clear guidance on concept development, editing, and presentation aligned with current academic and industry expectations.

My professional work includes designing and dressing international artists such as Björk, Lady Gaga, Grimes, Kylie Jenner, Megan Thee Stallion, Rina Sawayama, and Post Malone for performances, editorials, and public appearances. This experience gives students direct insight into professional standards, timelines, and the realities of working under pressure within the fashion industry. My technical foundation is shaped by experience in couture and luxury fashion environments including Viktor&Rolf, Givenchy, Balmain, and bespoke tailoring ateliers.

My teaching covers draping, pattern making, sewing, and hand-based construction techniques, with a strong focus on fit, proportion, and translating ideas into technically resolved garments. I offer targeted guidance on what universities are looking for at foundation, BA, and MA level: from creative curiosity and process at foundation stage, to technical skill, concept development, and visual clarity at BA level, through to research depth, authorship, and critical positioning at MA level. I work closely with students to ensure their portfolios clearly communicate both creative identity and readiness for academic or professional progression. I am fluent in German and, with formal training in painting, can also support students in developing visual research, composition, and fine art–led portfolio work where relevant.

Drawing as the basic visual language is one of the most powerful ways to connect what you see and record through your body. This class is suitable for people who are applying for Bachelor and Master programs in Art.

We will start with still life drawing and continue our observations with the human figure. Initially, I would suggest pencils, pastels, crayons, and charcoals to make the drawings on paper. After getting familiar with the human figure, I will ask you to alter the medium; i.e., the marker and the surface, to explore the visual language of the materials.

Moving from observation to the materiality of our drawings, I will ask to draw and write from memory. This part of the class would enable us, to collect images and make narratives from our source materials that we have observed, recorded, and recalled.

This textile design class is for anyone wanting to enter the creative field of textile design. It is for students who wish to gain a place on a textile course, current textile students, textile graduates, designers and creatives who want to learn how to create commercial allover print textile designs or for those transitioning from university to industry. For anyone wanting to find out how to start out as a freelance textile designer and crucially how to get selling.

You will learn how to create a commercial design, which colours to use, how to create a commercial portfolio and how to present it, what makes a successful layout, where to find inspiration, which target market are you designs best suited to, which software to use and how to use it

Having a strong passion towards art and human behaviour has led me to shaping haptic spaces to enable a journey full of encounters. I believe our subconsciousness can be expressed through bodily movements that can initiate with the mere moment of grabbing a pencil or a brush. As a result, my class explores the poetry behind art and its essence. My teaching method revolves around finding an individual's inner characteristics and conveying this into an expressive art form.

My goal is to keep students challenged, but not overwhelmed. During my class, different mediums will be tested to ignite creativity.

As a result of my profession, my classes can involve digital design involving Photoshop and Illustrator. It is important to be able to understand both 2D and 3D forms and so, my teaching method can include both aspects.

Michelangelo, Bernini and Rodin have been studying the sculptures of their predecessors the same way and have been a great influence on my own work, and that is why I want to pass this knowledge on.

In these lessons, you will also acquire some knowledge of the use of power-tools necessary to make the armatures.
