Secondary English Literature and Language Tutoring

Whether you’re struggling to understand Shakespeare, grasping the themes of a set novel, or not knowing how to do persuasive writing I provide tutoring in both the English Literature and English Language curriculum for secondary school pupils ages 11-18 years.
In my classes, I will provide help with essay writing, analysing novels, plays and poetry and give you the confidence you need to tackle GCSE and A level exams. For younger pupils at KS3 I am happy to tailor to the pupil's needs and provide any support they require at this stage in their learning.
I have experience teaching Shakespeare, gothic texts, graphic novels, An Inspector Calls, creative writing, viewpoint writing, power and conflict poetry, Macbeth, A Christmas Carol and the AQA exam specific papers and texts.
I am DBS certified, with a GCSE in English Literature and English Language, an A Level in English Literature and a First Class Honours degree in English and Creative Writing. I have just received my Qualified Teacher Status in English literature and language.
Note that timings may vary if in person depending on the location of the student.

About Me
Hi, I'm Bethany! I'm 21 years old and have lived in Gloucestershire all my life. I have been a youth leader at my local church for the past couple of years, which is where my love for supporting and teaching young people developed.
Perhaps you love English (me too!) but I understand that English may not be every student's favourite subject and that's okay! I am here to help you at whatever level you are currently at, but also hopefully help you see that English can be enjoyable and that there is so much literature can tell us about the world and who we are as people.

Education
GCSEs in English language and English literature, A Level in English Literature, First Class Honours Degree in English and Creative Writing. Will be studying a PGCE in secondary English teaching from September.
Experience / Qualifications
Supported the flute players in my local primary school band for over three years, volunteered in my local library for two years, worked as agency cover staff in nurseries, volunteered as a kids worker at my church as well as a youth worker, led a church connect group for over a year giving Bible teachings, tutored a Hong King student in English as a foreign language for over a year.
