About Me

I’ve been an English teacher in Japan for more than twenty years.
I have an M.A. in English Language & Literature from the University of Glasgow. I hold a CELTA teaching qualification.
My experience allows me to predict your common problems and errors, and prepare lessons which will help you avoid these problems.
I can help you with IELTS, TOEIC, or general conversation.
Face-to-face or online, and private or group lessons are available.

Education

M.A. (hons.) English Language & Literature, University of Glasgow, 1995 - 1999.
My studies covered all aspects of literature, grammar, phonetics and the evolution of the English language.

CELTA (Certificate in English Language Teaching to Adults, administered and assessed by the University of Cambridge).

My class is for anyone who wants to improve their English or learn more about the language. These classes will offer instruction and assistance in a professional manner. Your teacher will consult with you and troubleshoot the areas you need improvement in. Your teacher laso has a background in Latin, Greek and French and help you find the right vocabulary for whatever situation you need.

I want to know what your goals are so we can design classes to meet your specific needs.
Classes will follow a path of starting out with some warm-up conversation or exercises - to promote code-switching and thinking in English. Then we will include a range of activities to promote language learning for you. These activities will build on, practice, and review English.
Classes are topically based for high interest and fun.

You will learn at least beginner level english. You will learn grammer, words, numbers, how to introduce yourself, how to start a conversation. We first learn the alphabet and pronounciation for each letter then begin learning how to say words then end with grammer and sentences.
