About Me

Hi! I’m Dan, a Swiss Mandarin teacher with a Bachelor's and Master's degree in Teaching Chinese as a Second Language from National Taiwan Normal University (NTNU) in Taipei.

I have around three years of Mandarin teaching experience, including teaching at Taipei American School (TAS), Lycée International Français de Taipei (LIFT), and one-on-one tutoring with international students during my Master's program.

My lessons are personalized according to each student's level, goals and interests. We can focus on conversation, pronunciation, grammar, vocabulary, reading, writing and Chinese characters, whether you are a complete beginner or an advanced learner.

As someone who learned Mandarin as a second language myself, I understand the difficulties learners may face and enjoy explaining the language in a clear, practical and structured way. My goal is to help you become more confident and use Mandarin naturally in real-life situations.

Experience / Qualifications

- Mandarin Teacher – LIFT: Taught Mandarin to non-native speakers across three grade levels, creating lessons, assessments, progress reports, and adapted learning materials (Aug 2025 – June 2026).
- Mandarin Teaching Assistant – TAS: Supported Mandarin classes for non-native speakers, including lesson preparation, classroom activities, and teaching materials (Sept 2024 – Dec 2024).
- Private Mandarin Tutor – NTNU: Provided one-on-one lessons to international students, adapting speaking, listening, reading, and writing activities to each learner’s goals and level (Sept 2024 – Dec 2025).
- Qualifications: Lesson and curriculum design, PowerPoint and teaching material creation, homework and class support, assessments and grading, progress tracking, and personalized instruction from beginner to advanced level.
