I'm Jacob, graduate Composer and music producer and have coached more than 50 students in 6 years. Among them many who now publish regularly, such as Holger Rohmann, Robert Getzner and Mila Chiral.

I try to place special emphasis on musical approaches in my lessons.
How do I start, how do I turn my first idea into a whole track and how do I deal with form, harmony, melody and of course rhythm; are all questions that are dealt with in my classes.

Genre doesn't matter too much as my classes are more about composing electronic music in general. In contrast to the usual workshops, the individual lessons allow me to respond very precisely to individual needs and interests.

About Me

At the age of 15 I sat at home on the computer and wanted to make music.

I got the Magix Music Maker from my buddy and now we're trying to outdo each other with increasingly heavy bass.
The first results were quite "interesting" and yet had almost nothing to do with the music in my head. When the first tracks slowly came into being, the feedback from friends and family didn't go beyond "Sounds really nice".
So at the time I wished for someone who could give me feedback and show me one or the other function in Ableton Live without having to spend hours looking for it.
I stayed with music and after studying composition I decided to offer the help I didn't have at the time.

Experience / Qualifications

Jakob (aka Ioka) is a qualified composer, trained pianist and drummer and has been producing in various electronic genres under the pseudonym "Ioka" for over 10 years. As a film music composer, he has written the music for various documentaries and set the music to several educational films. In addition, his work as a sound designer was in demand for several product videos. His music is released by 56 Stuff and Ingrown Records, among others.

In these lessons you will learn how to study and play the piano. You can ask for specific pieces that you really want to play, or we can start togheter a training with exercises and pieces. I also teach sightreading (how to read a score!), how to play with singers or other musicians and solfeggio. Regarding composition, I can give you the first base and teach how to approach, how to analyse a piece, and how to train the ear, and a bit of harmony and contrapoint.

You love your violin or viola and know that your path is different from the traditional one. Your soul tries to express itself through your own art, so you want to deal with technology and theory.

That was my path and I offer you to share everything I have learned over the years!

I am a cellist, composer and pianist from Chicago currently residing in Graz, Austria! I received my Bachelors in Cello and Composition in the USA from Indiana University and am currently pursuing my masters in Cello Konzertfach at Kunst Universität Graz. I have years of experience working as a private cello, piano and composition teacher. I am used teaching all levels, and have certification to teach string students as young as six years old from Indiana University's String Academy Program. In addition to teaching instrumental and composition lessons privately, I also have experience teaching music theory and aural skills as a graduate teaching assistant.

I adjust my teaching based on what you or your child would like to learn. From helping you learn to play a Bach cello suite, to Bohemian Rhapsody on piano, or get feedback and mentorship on your own compositions, I would be happy to play a part in your musical journey! :)

My activities reflect my passions in diverse musical styles including various settings from big band, symphonic music to contemporary, folk music and all things African.
My latest musical associations is my with my quartet, inspired by different cultural and musical elements. Through the freedom of composition and improvisation.
