About Me

I am Francesca, a passionate harpist and music educator. I have recently completed my first year of a master’s degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague. In addition to my advanced studies, I have a deep commitment to sharing my love for music with others, particularly children and young adults. My greatest strengths lie in my ability to connect with people, quickly identify their difficulties, and tailor my teaching methods to meet their individual needs.

Education

I have a solid educational foundation in music, having earned my bachelor's degree in Italy. I studied the harp through the Suzuki method, a pedagogical approach that has profoundly influenced my teaching style. This method not only helped me master the harp but also equipped me with the skills to understand and address the challenges faced by my students. My current pursuit of a master's degree at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague continues to enhance my technical skills and pedagogical expertise.

Experience / Qualifications

I bring a diverse range of teaching experiences to my work. In Italy, I taught music theory and harp at both elementary and middle schools. I also led a summer camp for children from underprivileged backgrounds, an experience that honed my ability to engage and inspire students from various walks of life. I am particularly interested in teaching the harp to children but am equally excited about working with teenagers and adults who are fascinated by this beautiful instrument.

In addition to my teaching experience, I have performed extensively as a soloist and in orchestras, including the prestigious Residentie Orkest. These performances have enriched my understanding of music and strengthened my abilities as a musician, which I bring to my teaching practice.

One of my proudest achievements is my bachelor’s degree from Italy, but I am also very proud of the opportunity to perform with the Residentie Orkest despite not yet having completed my master’s degree. This experience has been invaluable in preparing me for a professional career in music.

Hello parents! My name is Sandra. I am a native English speaker from New York State. I have a USA teaching license and a Bachelor's Degree in Childhood Inclusive Education (Grades K-6 and Students with Disabilities) from the State University of New York at Fredonia. My experiences include teaching at primary international schools in Belgrade, Serbia for 2 years and 3 years at international schools in The Hague, Netherlands. I have worked at two IB primary schools. Alongside teaching at international schools, I have 8 years of experience teaching English. Lessons are provided to children and teenagers. Lessons are customized to the learning needs of your child. For children who are fluent English speakers, tutoring can be given to further excel in particular areas. Subjects that interest the student such as science, history or world topics can be incorporated into the lesson to broaden their knowledge. Support can also be provided in learning organizational skills, research, and mini projects for older children. I am available to help with studying, homework, or school projects. For online learning, I use a variety of platforms, websites, educational games, and e-books to reach the learning goals of my students. Additional homework can be provided if requested.

I provide lessons for the Nt2 Staatsexamen and Dutch Nationalisation exam (Inburgering examen)and Business Dutch for ex-pats and people who want to learn everyday Dutch. In the citizenship exam course, students learn about history, geography and basic vocabulary which are the contents of the exam. They learn how to respond to basic questions. Besides preparatory lessons for (Inburgering examen ,citizenship exam ,I teach Business Dutch( Zakelijk Nederlands) to expats. Online lessons are delivered through Google meet and Ms Teams and other online platforms. The lessons are conducted online as well as at a location in The Hague. Both private and group lessons are available.

I am a professional English teacher with over 8 years experience in various teaching roles. I have experience of teaching all ages from 3 up to 65+ in group classes or 1-on-1. Specific purpose teaching such as public speaking or business English also taught.

In English speaking, we usually don't say the word "must". Must is very formal and uncommon unless you're talking about rules ("Passengers must check in and out") or making a confident guess ("You must be Tom!"). Otherwise, must is very old fashioned. Instead, we say "have to" or "need to". In 1965, the Queen said "I must go to the lavatory". Everyone in the 21st century says "I have to go to the toilet." Knowing the differences between formal and informal English is important so you use the right words in the right situations! A native English teacher is the best person to help you with this.
