About Me
I am a musician who focuses on collaboration and composition, using jazz as the context in which to do this. I teach technical aspects for double and electric bass, but also Jazz Harmony and Improvisation skills. Currently, I'm on the Masters in Jazz program at Luca Arts.
The most current project I'm involved with, the Tenement Jazz Band, are a Scottish group whose focus is on preserving and giving new life to traditional New Orleans Jazz. Hopefully I can bring some of this to Leuven!
I'm also keen in cross-collaborative arts, particularly within the world of circus. I spent three years on the road with Nofit State Circus, actually visiting Zomer Van Antwerpen in 2015, and saw how much music can enhance the visual and spatial experience of a circus show. It's all about bringing people together and at a time like this it's more important than ever to find a way to connect through music.
