About Me
I am originally from Edinburgh, the capital of Scotland, where I lived until I started university in 1997 and returned to work in the golf industry. I moved to France in 2008 for the same reason as many of my contemporaries: I fell in love with a French woman!
Before coming to France, I had never considered becoming an English teacher. Today, after 15 years of work, I couldn't imagine doing anything else. Being able to share my knowledge and help other people learn an important skill and/or pass an exam that will make a huge difference to their future is a truly rewarding experience. I feel privileged to do the work that I do and I really hope to have the opportunity to help you achieve your goals. If you choose to work with me, we will use a variety of materials during your training, but you, the learner, are the most important resource: everything we work on will be selected with your goals in mind.
Although I mostly work with intermediate level (B1) students who need English for their work, I have considerable experience with beginners and advanced levels. I also work a lot with students, especially engineering students, who need the TOEIC to validate their diplomas. Retirees, who are looking to improve their English for travel, are another group I continue to work with today, via the Inter-Ages University of Caen.
In short, I am comfortable with all profiles and levels of learners, and this is one of the reasons why I have entered into successful partnerships as a subcontractor with several different training companies in the whole of France. It's this variety - no two learners are the same - that allows me to stay as motivated and involved in my work as when I started in 2008.
Outside of work, I enjoy golfing, gardening and spending time with my three young children. I play the guitar and the piano, although I'm not particularly good at it, and on the rare occasions when I have the time, I like to read and write mystery novels.
