About Me

Professional jazz guitarist (with a degree), teacher, composer, and self-taught luthier. I have been actively involved in the Bogotá music scene since 2014.
My deep love for music and understanding how it works has led me to investigate all kinds of genres, including the languages of acoustic and electric guitars in jazz, rock, pop, classical pieces, traditional music and much more.
I seek to expand my knowledge of how to interpret music, help others to feel the joy of doing so, and be part of the community that preserves its quality and beauty.

Education

Professional guitarist, Sergio Arboleda University, Bogota/Colombia.
Diploma in ensemble conducting from Jazz at Lincoln Center
Luthier certified by Daddario Latin America
Master in cultural management Complutense University of Madrid/ Ortega Marañón Foundation

Experience / Qualifications

Even before finishing my degree as a performer, I was the instructor for the director of the jazz and guitar section of the faculty, which has led me to have more than 10 years of experience teaching guitar at different levels.

I work with a dynamic attitude, using ease to communicate in public, both live and by phone or virtually, I try to convey the illusion that Music gives me back. With versatility, I seek to establish ways to meet the needs of the student, thus perfecting my goals as a teacher. Delighted to learn and expand horizons with each experience.

In addition to teaching in general, the objective of the classes is personalized, it proposes to strengthen the natural abilities of the student, thus increasing his creative horizon, through a playful and fun system; learning, perfecting and playing.

My goal is to give enough tools to not need me or, in other words, use what I have learned to continue learning ...

I graduated with honors from the "Amadeo Roldán" Conservatory in Havana as a lute player, instrument teacher, and ensemble practice teacher. I also perform in the execution of the guitar, the piano and the Cuban tres, as well as group work.

This class is aimed at those who are interested in learning music, either theory or practice. This is a discipline that requires rigor and demand, something without which it would not proceed. The passion and love for this art will play a transcendental role in the assimilation of the contents and the importance that can be given to it.

An ideal basic method for anyone who wants to learn classical guitar from scratch, or someone who wants to improve their technique.
Guitar classes designed to provide the student with the necessary resources to develop creativity and musical sensitivity naturally, easily, quickly and effectively.
I use the material of my teachers Abel Carlevaro and Eduardo Castañera, who have a great concern with the technique of the instrument and musical interpretation.
The classes also teach the theory of musical reading (score and figures), music theory, etc.
Concert guitarist Carlos Bica will be in Madrid and Ciudad Real teaching classes. These classes last one hour, once a week individually. Beginner, intermediate and advanced students of all ages, children and adults, will be accepted.
For those who seek to be professionals and with the purpose of being able to respond to challenges with solvency and a level of excellence that distinguishes them, you can find it here. Music lovers are also welcome, who will enjoy getting to know this world better and want to learn to enjoy music. I wait for you.

If you've been playing guitar for a while and want to improve your guitar skills, this is the class you should take! We'll cover advanced chord tensions, how to apply them, improvising over different chords, cadence, and minor, major, and modal contexts.

We can also review how to build a melody with chords, which could be a bit more advanced.

We will use the same materials as Berklee College of Music to guide our path through this beautiful process of discovering the guitar.

I prefer to teach with the person physically present, both because it makes the student feel more comfortable, and so do I as the educator; however, if there's a problem, I think we could arrange for online teaching.
