This class is for students of any age who wish to learn the transverse flute. Learning an instrument takes time and commitment, but it's hugely rewarding - and it doesn't have to be boring! I have experience teaching students of all age and levels and I specialise in tailoring my teaching to meet the individual needs of each student. Beginner flute lessons are suitable for students learning from scratch or those already playing up to about ABRSM Grade 2 level. In beginner flute lessons, you will learn the fundamentals of making a sound and play your first notes, as well as the basics of reading music. As lessons progress, you will learn your first short pieces and maybe even prepare for graded exams. Intermediate lessons are suitable for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 3 to Grade 5 levels. In these lessons, you will build on what you already know to expand your abilities on the flute. You will learn more about different musical styles and techniques and develop more confidence to express yourself through music. Advanced lessons are for students already playing at about ABRSM Grade 6 and beyond. Depending on each student, lessons could involve growing more skills to take the advanced grade or diploma exams exams through to learning the skills to put together a recital programme or prepare for a music college audition. There is wide scope in these lessons to focus on your areas of interest, while still keeping an eye on the solid foundations of good flute technique and musicianship.

About my tutoring: In my tutoring sessions, I will work with students to help them achieve their best grades. A typical lesson will include understanding content, mastering exam technique, and attempting and improving past exam question answers. I believe the best way to learn is in an active and engaging way, so this is how my classes will be, with lots of discussions and active recall to ensure understanding and embedding of knowledge and skill is maximised. About me: I am a current undergraduate student studying biology and chemistry at Cambridge University, so I understand the difficulty and pressure of exams and want to help students prepare and take away some of that worry and stress. I have also had experience teaching science in high school, so have deep-rooted knowledge surrounding science education. I truly understand the best ways to prepare and revise for GCSEs and A Levels, and have straight grade 9s and A*s to prove this. Folk and song accompaniment Guitar lessons focused on folk style accompaniment, drawing heavily from Irish traditional and contemporary folk music. Students learn chord shapes, rhythm, fingerpicking and song based playing, with an emphasis on supporting vocals and storytelling through the guitar. More personal and artistic With a background in Irish folk music, my guitar teaching centres on feel, rhythm and connection to the song. Lessons explore traditional and modern folk approaches while building strong technique and musical understanding. Each class is shaped around the student’s interests and pace.

Personalised session content is provided based on the interests and level of the student. E.g. The class aims to push any level of student to becoming a strong confident math student, and hopefully the study and organisation skills you pick up from math will transfer to other subjects too. In the first session I'd ask a couple of questions to gauge your current understanding, then build a plan to have you fully prepared by the time term starts. Sessions are built around GCSE and Year 11 prep strengthening core topics, tightening exam technique, and building confidence before the new year starts but the class isn't limited to one year group. Have you always wanted to learn how to dance but didn't know where to start? Do you have some dancing experience but need to work on your confidence or boost your skills / technique? Come and dance with me! My classes are for adults of any age and ability who want to learn to dance, or for anyone who already has dance experience but wants to explore themselves more as a soloist. I aim to develop your confidence with movement and body awareness throughout our sessions, and also work on your freestyling, skills picking up choreography, or even help you choreograph something of your own if you wish! My personal approach to dance is bringing fun to it! If you don't enjoy yourself, you won't continue to learn. Having fun is key to progressing, and we will get to improve technique and confidence along the way! My sessions are an hour long but 15 mins of those minutes are dedicated to warming up, cooling down and also discussing your day / week and your mental state before we start. This is so we can use the thoughts and feelings of the day as tools for our session to help release tension and boost your energy! The meaty part of the session will focus on some techniques, movement and music exploration and short choreographed combinations.
