English Courses - Beginner to Intermediate Level (Children or Adults)

From 17 £ /h

Hello everyone 🌸
Currently a Master's student in international law at the University of Geneva, I offer private English lessons in the commune of Les Rousses.
About me: My name is Charlène, I am 22 years old and I have been giving English lessons at home for 1 year.
I have studied English intensively since middle school (European section then British international section in high school) which allowed me to obtain the CAE from Cambridge and to spend 6 months during my degree in Budapest to follow a semester entirely in English. Today my studies allow me to follow a large majority of my courses in English in order to, later, work in the international sphere.

I therefore offer different courses for all types of profiles, from primary to high school level, but also refresher courses for adults ✨

About Me

As a Master's student in International and European Law at the University of Geneva, I completed a large part of my studies in English.
Having always been comfortable with people and enjoying helping others learn new things, I decided to start private English lessons.

For the past year, I've been giving private lessons to a variety of people, from 5-year-olds to working adults! This diversity of profiles allows me to thrive in this job and motivates me to give the best lessons possible.

I tailor my sessions to each individual's needs and what motivates them on a daily basis. Whether your passion is animals, sports, movies, or nature, I tailor each class to your interests so that each class is as useful as possible while remaining interesting to you.

Feel free to send me a message for more information!

My classes are highly personalised, academically rigorous, and tailored to each student’s individual strengths, challenges, and goals. Whether you are preparing for IB or IGCSE examinations, working on an Internal Assessment or Extended Essay, or simply aiming to improve your confidence and analytical writing skills, lessons are designed to provide both structure and intellectual depth.

As an experienced international teacher, IB examiner, and Senior Examiner, I help students develop the precise skills needed to succeed in high-level English courses and assessments. Lessons focus not only on improving grades, but also on strengthening critical thinking, interpretation, academic expression, and independent analysis.

Areas commonly covered include:

Literary and textual analysis
Essay planning and refinement
Paper 1 and Paper 2 preparation
Individual Oral (IO) support
Higher Level Essay (HLE) guidance
Extended Essay supervision
Exam strategy and time management
Academic writing and argument structure
My teaching style is supportive, engaging, and intellectually stimulating. I strive to create an environment in which students feel comfortable asking questions, exploring ideas deeply, and developing confidence in their own voice and analytical abilities.

Lessons are available online or in person (Geneva region), individually or in small groups. Intensive revision sessions before mocks and final examinations are also available.

Hello everyone and welcome to my English and or German lessons taught in group. I organise English and German lessons for children and teenagers and separately adult English group lessons (beginners to advanced). For children and teenagers, interactive activities are used as a way to motivate them, help them remember what they have learned in class and make sure they will be able to apply their language skills in real life context.
For the adults lessons, depending on what the students are willing to learn, we can have discussions based on the news, some grammar, writing... I am open to any suggestions, just tell me your needs and I am going to adapt the next lessons for you. If you wish to invite your friends and make a group with them, just let me know and I will allocate you a time slot.

For private English lessons, please have a look at my other advertisements. The German lessons are usually for beginners/ intermediate (exceptionally advanced levels in German can be organised only if there is a high-demand).

Don't hesitate to contact me should you have further questions. It would be a huge pleasure to integrate you in one of my classes. :-) Lessons usually last 50 minutes.

I offer repetitive English and German lessons, according to your school program or simply by wanting to develop in these languages.
Having obtained my gymnasium maturity certificate in June 2020, I have an intermediate level B1 in these two languages with a small advance on English. I have vocabulary in both languages very favorable for improvement in the language we work.

English is slowly but surely becoming an indispensable language to know. Many opportunities rely on an understanding and ability to speak English.

I speak English fluently and have experience in tutoring. I've studied higher-level English for many years and am passionate about English Language and English Literature. I can provide tutoring for younger children to build fluency and promote a bilingual childhood. I am also well-versed in the i/GCSE English curriculum. Of course, my services are available to anyone who would like to learn or improve their English, child or adult.

Looking forward to connecting!

I believe that having the opportunity to learn is something we should make the most of. As students, we do not always feel motivated to study, but learning and developing good working habits can open so many doors for the future. I would love to help children not only understand their subjects better, but also gain confidence, perseverance and, hopefully, a genuine interest in learning.

I am still a student myself, so I understand the difficulties and frustrations that can come with studying. I want my lessons to be adapted to each student, their needs and the way they learn best. I am flexible with the subjects and topics they would like to work on, and my goal is to create a positive environment where they feel comfortable asking questions, making mistakes and improving at their own pace.

For me, tutoring is not just about getting better grades, but about helping students realise that the effort they put in today can give them many more opportunities tomorrow.

In my 60-minute classes, we say goodbye to boring textbook memorization and the frustrating feeling of "I understand it, but I can't speak it." Instead, I focus heavily on speaking, active listening, and building real confidence. I adapt my teaching style to exactly what your child needs. Whether your teenager needs serious preparation for the IB, SAT, or IELTS, or your younger child just needs to improve their conversational fluency by chatting about their favorite movies, science, or daily life, I tailor every single lesson to them.

I provide all the custom learning materials so you don't have to worry about a thing. I bring the energy, the exam expertise, and the patience to every session. If you're looking for a mentor who can help your child speak naturally, improve their grades, and build unshakeable confidence, I would love to meet you both for a first lesson to see if we're a great fit!

After a career in finance in France and the United States, where I lived for five years, I chose to dedicate myself to teaching. I enjoy sharing knowledge and derive real satisfaction from seeing my students progress.

Mathematics (from primary school to 9th grade)

Review of the basics and filling in the gaps
Understanding the concepts rather than simply memorizing them
Regular practice and clear problem-solving methods
Preparation for tests and the patent

English (all levels)

Grammar, vocabulary and reading comprehension
Oral expression to gain fluency
Homework help and exam preparation
Fluent in English, acquired through 5 years of experience in the United States

My method

An initial exchange to assess the level and set objectives
Lessons adapted to each student's pace
A rigorous working method, useful in all subjects
Regular follow-up with the parents

The results
Depending on their starting point, my students have gained from 2 to more than 10 points out of 20. Beyond the grades, my goal is for them to regain confidence in themselves and rediscover the joy of learning.
