Whether you’ve always dreamed of playing the cello, want to return to it after years away, or simply want to understand and enjoy music more deeply, you’re in the right place.

With me, you’ll get lessons shaped around your goals and pace, guidance from a doctorate-level cellist with years of university teaching, and a relaxed, supportive atmosphere where mistakes are part of learning. You don’t need any prior experience, and it’s never too late to start. Many of my favorite students began as adults!

In our first lesson, we’ll get to know each other, talk about what you’d like to achieve, and I’ll put together a clear plan just for you. If you’re a beginner, you’ll leave already knowing how to hold the cello and play your first notes.

Book your trial lesson today. I can’t wait to make music with you! 🎻

About Me
Hello! I’m Özge, a cellist and music educator with a Doctor of Musical Arts (D.M.A.) in cello performance. I was born and raised in Turkey, studied and taught in the United States, and now live by the sea in Athens, Greece.

Music has been the center of my life for as long as I can remember. I’ve taught cello and music courses at conservatory and university level, and I’m also a certified Kindermusik educator, so I’ve worked with learners from early childhood all the way to advanced university students. Today I also work behind the scenes in film music, coordinating score recordings for a film composers’ agency, which gives me a fresh, real-world perspective on how music is made and why it moves us.

I teach in English and Turkish. Outside of music, I love cooking, rowing, and exploring life in Greece.
Education
D.M.A. Cello Performance (Aug, 2006–Sep, 2012) from University of Memphis Rudi E. Scheidt School of Music
M.A. Cello Performance (Aug, 2004–Jun, 2006) from Marshall University School of Music
B.A. Cello Performance (Sep, 1993–Jun, 2002) from Hacettepe University Ankara State Conservatory
Experience / Qualifications
I’ve taught for over 20 years at conservatory and university level, working with cello students, music majors, and non-music majors in music appreciation courses. As a certified Kindermusik educator, I’ve also taught young children, so I’m comfortable adapting to any age and level, from complete beginners to advanced players preparing for auditions.

My approach is structured but personal. In cello lessons, I build a healthy foundation first: relaxed posture, a natural bow hold, and good intonation habits, so you avoid tension and progress steadily. Then we choose repertoire that matches your goals, whether that’s classical pieces, film music, or simply playing for joy. In music appreciation lessons, I help you really hear music: how it’s built, why it makes you feel what you feel, and how it connects to history and culture. My work in film score production lets me bring in real examples of how music works on screen.

Discover the transformative power of music as a pathway to self-awareness, healing, and emotional growth.
These sessions are based on Receptive Music Therapy, specifically the Guided Imagery and Music (BMGIM) method — a powerful, evidence-based psychotherapeutic approach that uses carefully selected classical and contemporary music to evoke imagery, emotions, and insight from within.

Through relaxation, focused listening, and guided reflection, participants are invited to explore their inner world and access deeper levels of consciousness. Each session is a unique journey — the music becomes a mirror, revealing personal themes, emotions, and symbols that can lead to greater self-understanding and integration.

These sessions can support:
• Emotional regulation and stress reduction
• Processing grief, anxiety, or life transitions
• Enhancing creativity and self-expression
• Strengthening inner resources and resilience
• Deepening mindfulness and personal insight

Format:
• Individual or small-group sessions (for teens and adults)
• Each session includes relaxation, guided music listening, and a creative or verbal integration process
• No musical background required — only openness and curiosity

Who it’s for:
These sessions are ideal for anyone seeking a deeper connection with themselves, whether for personal development, self-exploration, or therapeutic support. Guided Imagery and Music (GIM) is used in both clinical and wellness contexts, making it suitable for those navigating emotional challenges, life changes, or simply wishing to expand their inner awareness and potential.
