After studying art for fifteen years in a Parisian workshop and starting a preparatory course in Art at the Beaux-Arts de Lyon, I offer an introduction to digital drawing techniques.
During my studio training, I experimented with numerous techniques (life drawing, still life, painting, cyanotype, engraving, pastel, charcoal, sculpture) which I now use in my digital drawings. I have been drawing on Krita for a year now, creating posters, original drawings, and animations.
Today, I offer to guide people interested in digital drawing techniques for a few hours. During this introductory session, I can adapt to each individual's preferences, whether they focus on line work, color, or composition.
My goal is to foster an interest in art and digital drawing in each and every one of my students, ensuring both enjoyable lessons and rapid progress. I look forward to seeing everyone's creations and am curious about your artistic ambitions.
My teachings
The aim of this introduction to digital drawing is to allow students to gain an initial appreciation of the techniques and potential of digital drawing. First, we will cover the basic parameters of the Krita software and install the necessary software to ensure access to its various features before exploring the artistic possibilities of this format. Throughout this introduction, my goal is also to ensure the student enjoys the process and, more generally, to encourage them to pursue their artistic interests and curiosities.
We will use various digital drawing techniques: layers, masks, brushes, colors and the color triangle, animation (for beginners), coloring, and selection and transformation tools. If desired, I can also offer tests to check that the student has understood each step; however, in all cases, developing autonomy is central to this introduction, and this is achieved without the need for tests.
Upon completion of this introductory course, students will be able to use Krita's basic tools independently, creating digital drawings and, if they wish, their first animations. They will be proficient in using the various tools covered. Results will be quickly visible, and each student will soon be able to implement their own projects, which I will be delighted to support.
I offer this introductory course on Krita, which remains particularly accessible as it is free. Therefore, the financial commitment for this course does not include the purchase of software. Should the student wish to purchase software to further develop and professionalize their skills, I can recommend software based on their specialization (video editing, animation, digital painting, etc.).
Digital drawing generally requires the purchase of a pad or tablet. For in-person classes, I provide the pad to minimize the financial commitment for what is, after all, an introductory course. This also gives students the opportunity to familiarize themselves with these tools, get comfortable with them, and make informed choices about their equipment. For online classes, however, students will need to purchase their own pad; I can then provide relevant recommendations. It is also possible to draw digitally without a pad using Krita, and although more challenging, it remains an interesting option for those who are not yet sure about continuing their digital drawing training.
Course format
Group classes for multiple students are also possible if each student has a tablet. In this case, I offer discounted rates per household to make this option attractive to everyone.
If the student makes progress on their own outside of class, it is perfectly possible for me to take up their work and questions in the following class and therefore progress at their own pace.
I offer both in-person and online classes. I have the necessary equipment to ensure successful online lessons. One of the advantages of digital drawing is that it is easy to teach remotely.
For home lessons, an additional charge may apply when travel is particularly significant or when schedules are restrictive.
