I am a tutor and lecturer at some of London's top drama schools including Mountview and Italia Conti. I work with you 1-1 to prepare you for foundation, BA, and MA drama school auditions. Together, we source and discuss audition material, work on audition technique and delivery, and prepare you for the interview and workshop portions of the auditions.

About Me

I am an actor, theatre producer and university lecturer and tutor at some of London's top drama schools. Having completed a BFA in Acting at Boston University and an MA in Acting at Mountview I have specialist experience and training which puts me in a great position to coach young actors pursuing placement on a foundation, BA or MA Acting course. Getting into drama school is not just about nailing your audition speeches, but allowing your individuality to shine through, and demonstrating intellectual and emotional engagement with the text. Together, we will work to find a personal connection with your speeches and engage with the wider contexts in which they were written. We will work together to nail those acting fundamentals while finding joy and confidence.

Education

Originally from San Francisco, CA. I attended the Ruth Asawa School of the Arts (a specialized arts high school) from the age of 14. I went on to study at Boston University where I gained my BFA Acting in 2018. I moved to the UK in 2019 and attended the Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts where I received an MA Acting, graduating with distinction in 2021.

I am a professional actress and movement director and I deliver one-to-one drama tuition sessions and full day workshops that are tailored to suit your individual needs. I have worked as an acting teacher and public speaking coach for all age groups (from ages 3 - 80!) for 24 years and it is a great passion and privilege of mine to assist in this way, seeing my students' evolution.

I have both a diploma and a degree in Acting (LAMDA, Associate Acting Diploma/ Rose Bruford, BA Hons Acting) and I have trained with Gecko physical theatre company. As well as performing for decades on stage and on screen, I have also run The Bedlam Bunch Children's Theatre and Entertainment since 2007, through which I have written and directed numerous stage plays as well as interactive, immersive shows for children aged 3 - 9 years. I also founded and ran Outburst Theatre from 2010 - 2019 as a platform to bring communities together in South East London via educational theatre projects. As a solo artist, I have written and produced three one-woman stage shows - "Raw Cake", "Through the Hourglass" and "The Wonky Shonky Show" - all performed in London, UK.

Movement for actors. This class explores Laban fundamentals to develop movement ability and application, providing an understanding of the influential movement system and how it can enhance your physicality and performance. We can work on a full understanding of the Laban system or actor movement coaching for specific work. Extensive experience teaching with organisations such as LSDA and Central School of Speech and Drama.

What is a live performance mentor?

A live performance mentor supports theatremakers and live performance artists in the realisation of their vision, assessing all aspects of your performance and guiding you to make original and intelligent decisions in your work.

Why are live performance mentors useful?

Having deeply researched a vast range of performance styles, techniques and training types, a live performance mentor is aware of current and historical trends and methodologies within the industry and can inspire your creativity and maintain accuracy and artistic integrity in your performances.

Alongside my tutoring work, I am a professional playwright and theatre critic. I have studied theatre at the University of York, Royal Central School of Speech and Drama and I am a member of the Soho Theatre Writers Group. My plays have been staged at the Edinburgh Fringe, York Theatre Royal and across Fringe venues in London. With my A/AS-Level Drama support classes, we will examine and explore the history behind a number of the key texts on the specifications for OCR, Pearson and EDUQAS:

Accidental Death of an Anarchist by Dario Fo
Saved by Edward Bond

In classes, we will look at the context in which these plays were written, the cultural impact they had and how to use this in essays to demonstrate your broader knowledge of the set texts. Aside from the plays themselves, it is important to understand the wider world of theatre. We will look at the plays of Samuel Beckett, Jean Genet and Theatre of the Absurd for Dario Fo. The history of Theatre censorship and the Royal Court Theatre is crucial to understanding Edward Bond's Saved.

This class will give you the opportunity to explore these complex texts with a practising playwright, and the expanded knowledge of these plays will give you that edge when it comes to the exam.

My method comes from my own professional experience working in London theatres. I believe heavily in preparation. Doing the work! Then letting go and being free on stage opening yourself to act spontaneously.

I direct and teach with the National Youth Theatre of GB and other theatre companies across London.

In my three years of coaching my students have gained places at RADA, LAMDA, Drama Studio London, East 15 and NYT. I can help with the interview stage and with selecting material.

Once we have that we will slowly dissect the piece and the world of the play to truly understand the character's wants/needs/obstacles/actions.

Also, I will....
- Give you confidence in your speech and in yourself for your upcoming auditions.

- Help you find your most natural performance.

- Explore and find exciting and different ways to perform the text. Settling on what works best for you.
