Comprehensive Ivy League Educated Academic Coach for Math, Writing, and College Admissions
From 59.01 £ /h
Hi, I'm Mike! I'm both an experienced teacher and an Ivy League-educated scholar with a deep background in mathematics, science, and the humanities.
I offer a premium tutoring experience for my students. I work with several elite tutoring agencies but am able to offer my services at a cheaper rate through Wyzant.
This isn't just homework help--I'll help define your student's goals and learning preferences, and develop a unique approach to get them where they want to be.
For over eight years I have been a trusted guide to many students as they navigate the academic world. I particularly love helping students excel in pre-algebra, Algebra I, geometry, trigonometry, essay writing, executive functioning, and standardized tests like the SAT.
My goal is always to improve confidence, sharpen critical thinking and problem-solving techniques, and empower my students to take on academic challenges. As a teacher, I am enthusiastic, engaging, and responsive to the individual needs and learning styles of my students.
A little about my background. I'm a life-long lover of learning. I studied physics and philosophy of science and mathematics at Columbia University, where I was awarded the David H. Siff Prize in the Philosophy of Science. I also hold a Master's degree in Architecture from Columbia University. I've conducted scientific research with several teams including groups at the Columbia Department of Astronomy and Astrophysics, the Lamont-Doherty Earth Observatory, and the Scripps Institution of Oceanography. I also have a background in writing and editing. I wrote for The New York Observer and have worked as a freelance editor for academic manuscripts and science papers.
I'm looking forward to learning together!
