Learning foundation to higher level English literature and langauge
From 19 £ /h
My classes aim is to teach in a style that works for students. For example, some individuals learn more effectively through visuals, or audio or actively taking part in a role play.
The classes aim to give students a great understanding of the subject of English literature and the ability to practice standard and developed english language skills. The classes will attempt to combine students interest with the curriculum, in order to make their lessons engaging and easier to understand. For instance, my previous student was very much interested in Black history, therefore when it came to her having to prepare an assessed speech to perform at school (as part of her English GCSE), I used the likes of Malcolm X and Obamas' speech style to assist her. We analysed and compared the language techniques they used, some of which she incorporated into her own speech. For me, teaching is not just about ticking boxes, but also about helping someone develop their own talent or interests.

Experience / Qualifications
the important role as a year 7 Mentor in my last year, was not only great fun but it helped me improve my communication skills, as well as the level of patience and understanding required, when working with a younger and more vulnerable student.
Furthermore, I have also had work experience at Tucker's Solicitors law firm, where I was advised and guided by practicing solicitors, a judge and where I also took the chance to shadow in a magistrates court.
In regards to my experience as an English tutor, I have tutored one-on-one, outside of school, privately, to one student for four years. I am proud to say that my student received a B in her English language and literature GCSEs. Since my Aunt is professionally an English Tutor, she was able to give me a lot of support and guidance on how to take on the task.
