About Me

My name is Andrii, am 20 years old. I was introduced to chess by my father when I was in 4th grade, and later he enrolled me in a chess club. There, I won many tournaments and earned a whole collection of medals (P.S. — they’re still gathering dust in my closet ).

After reaching the 3rd category, I won a championship at the Vasyl Ivanchuk Chess School in Lviv. Later, the chess club closed, and I took a break from chess. In 2020, I returned to this beautiful game and started playing online. I improved from a 1800 rating to 2400 on my own, without coaches, so I know firsthand how challenging this journey can be. I still actively play on online platforms.

For the past 3 years, I have been teaching students of various levels — from complete beginners to advanced players (up to 1st category and higher). My best result as a coach is a student rating of 2270 in rapid

Besides chess, I am currently pursuing a higher education degree in law at Ivan Franko National University of Lviv.

Experience / Qualifications

I have been teaching chess since 2021. I started by giving online group lessons to beginner children, and many of them are still my students today. Later, I began offering one-on-one lessons.

Since 2023, I have been actively working as an online chess tutor, teaching students of different ages and skill levels. Besides having a strong chess background, I believe that successful lessons are built on a good connection and shared motivation between the coach and the student. When both enjoy the learning process and have the right vibe, improvement comes naturally, and every lesson becomes both productive and enjoyable.

The lesson lasts 60 minutes. It starts with a theoretical part, where I usually identify the player’s weaknesses and gaps in understanding the game. Then we move on to practice (playing games together and analyzing them). I also teach the psychological aspects of chess. After each lesson, I assign homework, which is mandatory to complete. I select openings based on your playing style and teach key, typical ideas.

I am a Latvian Candidate Master with an international FIDE rating of 2059 and an English Chess Federation rating of 2120, and an online rating of 2400, reflecting a strong competitive level.
