High School Math can be confusing for students. Often there is not enough time in school to repeat the content and practice enough, for the students to gain confidence and a routine in solving mathematical problems. With my help and guidance, any confusion will be cleared and we will practice problem solving until you are confident and understand the material.

The lessons will be tailored to your needs and their structure depends highly on you: usually it is a mixture of repeating the content, solving exercises together, summarising important concepts and talking about exercises you tried yourself at home. The topics, content, pace and methods of learning will be adjusted to your needs, ensuring that you get the most out of my lessons. I have 30 years of experience playing chess, I am a candidate master of Latvia, having an international (FIDE) rating of 2088, and an English Chess Federation rating of 2145, which is quite a good level. I am especially good at blitz and rapid. My greatest achievement is 1st place in English Open Women & Girls Rapid Championship in 2019.
I have around 10 years of experience teaching chess to juniors and adults. I have been tutoring many students across the UK and have helped them to progress in chess and some of them gained great achievements in the tournaments and were qualified for the next competitions.

I can teach basic concepts, moves, strategies, and tactics for beginners and help to improve the game technique of intermediate or advanced players, suggesting theory, ideas, and winning game plans.

Chess is a fun game that starts with the basic rules and moves through the 3 parts of the game: the opening, the middlegame, and the endgame.

The focus at first is to teach you how the pieces move, what the goal of the opening is, and how the pieces interact. You will also learn the vocabulary related to chess and chess notation.

Tactics are then explored to take advantage of hanging pieces, lack of king safety, space, and tempo. From here depending on what your personal goals are we will adapt the classes to cover what will help you progress.

I can also give group classes, contact me if you have a group, we can discuss how to best organise those classes and pricing.
