About Me

Hello! I come from California and I moved to France in 2016 to become an English assistant at the secondary/high school level. Before that, I graduated with a double major in History and in Linguistics from UC Santa Cruz. I am currently pursuing a Master's Degree in International Relations with a focus on Border Studies at Sciences Po Strasbourg. I love to cook and read novels in my spare time!

Education

Master's Degree in International Relations with a focus on Border Studies - Sciences Po Strasbourg
BA Linguistics, BA History - University of California, Santa Cruz

Experience / Qualifications

Linguistic qualifications: My Linguistics degree has helped me understand the structure of languages as I was able to take courses on syntax, phonology, and auditory and articulative phonetics. With this background, I have a greater knowledge of how to correct errors made by non-native speakers.
Experience in education: I was an English teaching assistant for two years, and also gave private lessons for adults. This summer, I taught French lessons as part of my internship at CASAS, an organization in Strasbourg that provides administrative and cultural aid to asylum seekers.

I am available to help with homework, develop grammar skills, reading and comprehension and/or speaking. I adapt to your needs.

I give French lessons for adults or students of any level wishing to improve their spelling or their dissertations.
I also give English lessons for students or adults wishing to improve their pronunciation, writing and vocabulary.
I adapt to each student according to his expectations and his objectives and offers them a personalized help.
Hope to see you soon!

I am a student at Centrale Paris, one of the best engineering schools in France, and I am looking to give lessons in Math, Physics and English in Strasbourg in person (and elsewhere in distance) to students in college and high school, or even Post -bac.

I am very motivated and professional, my approach to private lessons comes from my own prep courses, it is simple and effective: learn your course perfectly, apply it to a large number of simple exercises to learn how to apply, then to a number of complicated exercises to learn to master the course.

In particular, I was able to apply these precepts with great success when I was the internship supervisor of a second year intern, to teach him the audiovisual professions (I was president of the audiovisual association in my school). I am also fortunate to be able to arrange my schedules to suit you best.

If you are a student or parent of a student in college, high school, or Post-Bac, do not hesitate to contact me for private lessons, homework support or refresher or reinforcement courses !

Hello, I am Josh from Australia and I currently live in France.
I am an English teacher and tutor.

My approach to teaching is based mostly on the Communicative Method. Everything we do - reading, writing, listening, grammar has an end goal of serving a communicative purpose.
I do not lecture, and I try to keep my talking to a minimum. It is about You, and you should be talking the most.
I like to elicit and get a lot of information from my students', that helps in building their confidence in the language and reducing my teacher talk time.
And finally, my approach is FUN. We need to enjoy what we are doing. I create lessons that are engaging, motivating and interesting. We need to have a laugh and not take things too seriously. Language is play and play is fun, if it's not then we will get bored.

I have been teaching English for over 8 years now in a few different countries. I love teaching English and getting the most out of my students. I take a great interested in supporting you in your language journey and success.

With me, I will support you, challenge you, and create lessons specifically for you. That way, you will enjoy the lessons and see improvement.

Generally, I create a lesson built around a theme or topic and from there I introduce a 'bite size' instruction for revision and practice. For example, a new grammar or vocabulary topic. The focus is ultimately on communication and getting the most out of you.

See you soon!

Josh
