Experience / Qualifications

While working for International House in Moscow, I taught a wide range of levels and ages, from beginner classes with 7-year-olds to adult IELTS preparation classes, as well as carrying out placement tests. Since moving to online teaching, I have again taught both children and adults extensively and received very positive feedback on my classes.

In addition, I have over 6 years’ experience of working in classrooms in the UK, supporting and delivering learning activities for children aged 3-16. At Bluebell Primary School, I led daily interventions with individuals and small groups focused on maths, phonics, writing, spelling and grammar. I also completed a unit in supporting bilingual learners as part of a Level 3 Diploma (see above). My employers and tutors have also commented on my attention to detail, how reliable and well-organised I am and how I have a good manner with learners of all ages.

As a member of worldwide organisation ‘Toastmasters International’, I have served as President of Norwich Speakers’ Club, which helps adults to improve their public speaking skills. I have also mentored numerous club members and delivered educational workshops to adults, some of which were focused on language use. In addition, I have served on a Speaker Selection Panel for a TEDx event that was focused on education.

My methodology: Learning to structure one's thoughts to express oneself better
My approach is based on a simple observation: success is not achieved through lack of effort, but often through a lack of method and confidence. My role is to transform subjects sometimes perceived as abstract (Philosophy, French) or intimidating (English) into concrete tools for success.

The typical course of a session:
1. Quick diagnosis: We start by identifying the areas of uncertainty from the previous lesson or the difficulties with a specific exercise.
2. Taking action: No boring lectures! We work on concrete exercises, essay plans or oral practice (in English) to "learn by doing".
3. The "Montreal Method": Having worked for two and a half years in Quebec, I use a North American pedagogy that is very focused on encouragement, clear structure and student autonomy.
4. Summary & Objectives: We end each session with a recap of the key points so that the student knows exactly what to revise.

What makes the difference: As a philosophy student, I don't just teach authors; I teach the methodology that allows students to think for themselves about major philosophical concepts.
