Learners are classified in various levels; the starting level being beginners. The first class is meant to assess each student and assist to establish or confirm the expressed English language lessons goal. This session will enable me to know the learner's environment with regard to possible practice of English language at home. It is a basis on which I could design suitable lessons to be communicated as course outline to provide a clear learning map towards the learner's goal.
Lesson 1 will confirm the level at which the learner has been placed. This means there will be upgrading of the learning material and confirmation of necessary teaching or tutoring techniques and strategies. The use of existential teaching approach emphases eliciting all English learning skills as critical to motivate learners to fully participation and stay engaged throughout the lesson. It is very important to create conducive learning environment and build teacher-learner trust. As an adult educator, I regard this principle as a foundation for continued learning at all levels.
