I often worry about how to get started with English. I'm half-Japanese, half-English-speaking (Hong Kong). I was born and raised in Hong Kong, and I've come to realize that even if Japanese is my native language, I can't fully master all of the Japanese idioms. Because I can't live in a language-speaking country, I can only learn each word on my own, doing my best to learn them one by one. Language is more than just vocabulary; it incorporates many elements, such as culture, ways of thinking, perceptions, beliefs, ways of solving problems and making decisions, ways of speaking, communication styles, personality, education, lifestyle, preferences, relationships, and values. Language and language are complex.

In this day and age, AI functions are available for translation and even consultations, but the desire to "familiarize yourself with a language, use it freely as you please, and connect well with people who speak the same language" can often feel like it's not something you can easily understand, no matter how hard you try. I want to help each and every one of you move forward with your worries, goals, and dreams, even if it's just a step at a time. I will tailor the content to suit you. I want to support each and every one of you in your unique love and curiosity for English, and the person you want to become. In this class, rather than simply having you listen to, speak, practice, and memorize words, I aim to help you gradually become closer to being an English speaker through the process of experiencing and understanding the characteristics of English, the way you think and feel when using it, the way a conversation progresses and the direction of a conversation, and your values.
