A-Level Frankenstein AQA: Analysis of form, themes, characters and structure.
From 20 £ /h
Frankenstein by Mary Shelley is a gothic novel that explores themes around ambition, religion, sciences, nature and multiple others. In this class, I will unravel how gothic conventions are applied in the novel to depict thematic concepts as well teach in-depth character analysis, ranging from the main key characters to the side characters.
Additionally, in my class, I will break down form significance and how it can be used to support arguments in regards to characters and themes. These include analysis of Shelley’s use of an epistolary and prologues; the analysis will also help students solidify their point by integrating important contextual information such as the Enlightenment time period.
As well as teaching the concepts in an analytical manner, my class will also focus on essay writing skills that are significant in structuring a strong essay. This includes me teaching the importance of a solid introduction that sign-posts my students’ points across, in relation to their question, and also includes integrating topic sentences and the correct use of context, evidence and a conclusive argument.

About Me
I am an English Ba graduate who has a passion for reading and helping others learn and develop their knowledge. My friendly persona has been commended by previous tutees, informing me that it plays a huge role in helping them grasp an understanding of concepts they were once not familiar with. I make sure to aid everyone I teach in the importance of solidifying an understanding of a subject before memorising, then emphasise the significance of following their understanding with revision techniques that suit my tutee’s needs.
I am aware of the English AQA A-level curriculum and can confidently guide my students with the structure and necessary writing, analytical and comprehensive skills required in attaining a good grade.
I have multiple experiences with communicating with children ranging from the ages 6-16. I have undertaken work experience in a nursery as a TA, volunteered in a primary school and worked with secondary students too in 1-1 academic sessions.

Experience / Qualifications
I have undertaken work experience in a nursery wherein my role consisted of me being a TA. My responsibilities included: guiding children to follow rules and the importance of listening and respecting others. I also was encouraging children to embrace their creativity by helping them feel confident and pleased with their creative pieces.
I tutored English to secondary students with private 1-1 sessions. My sessions were focusing on developing students’ essay writing wherein I taught them the importance of writing articulately and demonstrated methods that helped them attain these skills. I ensured to learn about my students prior to my lessons by asking about their interests to create a good relationship with them so they are able to feel comfortable with raising any academic concerns with me. This overall made the learning environment for them easier and fun.
