Medical English, Medical Communication Skills & Conversational English
From 16.96 £ /h
Ciao! My name is Ada and I am a British trained doctor now living in Roma with my dog. I have been a doctor for over 10 years specialising in general surgery. I have worked for the NHS in the UK and for 2.5 years over in New Zealand. Whilst working as a doctor I really enjoyed supervising and mentoring both medical students and junior doctors. I was an OSCE examiner for the University of Leeds and helped students prepare for their communication examination finals. So if you are a potential medical student, current medical student or a qualified doctor who would like to work in an English speaking country, it would be a pleasure to help you with your medical english. We can focus on history taking, giving information to patients including breaking bad news and presenting to your future colleagues.
For those not medically inclined and just wish to practice their conversational skills in English, I would also love to help you with this. Although I am not a qualified English teacher, I have attended many communication courses as part of being a doctor and it is my native language. I can help you with building sentences, pronunciation, even teach you some accents and slang. I have no regional accent so I am clear and easy to follow. As this is not a language exchange we can focus fully on you and I can give constructive feedback and we can work on any areas you may feel you need help with.
It would be a pleasure to help you so if you feel I can assist, please try me out!

About Me
I enjoy teaching and find it satisfying to watch students develop and grow in confidence.
I like to have fun whilst teaching and my dog may be in attendance also!
I love to travel and have worked in Mexico for my medical elective and travelled to New Zealand with my dog called Earnest (from my favourite Oscar Wilde play - The Importance of Being Earnest). Due to Brexit, we dashed back to Europe spending 11 months in Barcelona and now we are here in Roma (longterm hopefully)!
I am studying Italian in the hope of working as a doctor here in the future.
