Russian with a native speaker, explained in English or Spanish
From 30 £ /h
A native Russian speaker with a degree in Hispanic Studies from a leading UK university and near-native English. I currently teach Russian online for a London language school, and this class is for anyone who wants to learn Russian with a native speaker who can explain it in English or in Spanish.
Complete beginners start with the Cyrillic alphabet, pronunciation and the phrases you need every day, and we speak Russian from the first lesson. If you already have the basics, most of our time goes on speaking, and we build your vocabulary and work through the topics that usually cause trouble, such as the cases and verbs of motion. Grammar comes in short explanations with examples, not long lectures.
I can run the lesson in English or in Spanish, as you prefer.
Tell me about your goals, and I'll tailor our lessons to help you achieve them in a friendly, supportive environment.

About Me
Hi! I'm a native Russian speaker, and I teach Russian, Spanish and English. I currently teach Russian online for a language school in London. Spanish and English are languages I learned myself, Spanish at university with a semester in Spain, so I know first-hand what it's like to learn a foreign language, make mistakes and slowly gain confidence.
My teaching approach is practical, friendly and student-centred. We spend most of the lesson in real conversation and everyday situations, and I explain grammar briefly, with examples and in context, rather than through long explanations. If you're learning Russian, lessons can be in English or Spanish, whichever you're more comfortable in.
I enjoy teaching motivated adults at any level, from complete beginners to people who want to speak more naturally, and I also work with younger learners.
Drop me a message with what you'd like to work on, and we'll take it from there.

Having learned Spanish myself, explored it academically at university and spent time living in Spain, I understand the challenges learners face. I hold a degree in Hispanic Studies from a leading UK university and spent a semester at a Spanish university, so I know both the grammar and how the language is actually spoken.
Beginners build usable Spanish from the first lessons: pronunciation, the verbs you need most and short conversations about everyday life. At intermediate and advanced levels we talk for most of the lesson, widen your vocabulary and sort out the grammar that tends to stick, such as ser and estar, the past tenses and the subjunctive. We'll focus on speaking, listening and building a solid understanding of the language.
I explain in English or in Russian, whichever helps you more, and we use Spanish itself as much as possible.
Send me a message about what you'd like to achieve in Spanish, and we'll go from there.

Practical English for work, study or everyday life, with conversation practice and clear, constructive feedback. I have lived in England for many years and hold a degree from a leading UK university; my English is near-native, and because I learned it as a second language myself, I know which parts are hard and how to get past them.
We work on what you actually need: speaking with confidence, following native speakers at normal speed, writing clear emails, or getting ready for an interview or a presentation. Grammar and pronunciation come up as they are needed, in short explanations with examples, and I correct you clearly without breaking the flow of the conversation.
I can explain in Spanish or in Russian when it helps; the rest of the lesson is in English.
