I also currently hold a Master's degree in music education. I have taught at Citrus College in Los Angeles, CA as well as Tokyo School of Music in Tokyo.

About Me

Merlyn is an extremely versatile American bassist from Los Angeles, CA. He plays both electric and upright basses as well playing synth bass.

Merlyn has recorded, performed and toured in over 30 countries around the world with various artists playing virtually all styles of music including Rock, Pop, Jazz, Classical, Heavy Metal, and Country.

While in the U.S., Merlyn has toured and recorded with Willie Nelson and also co-founded the popular American band, Lukas Nelson and the Promise of the Real.

Merlyn has performed on international television with Willie Nelson, Taylor Swift, Ed Sheeran, Gwen Stefani, Natalia Lesz, and Eliana Burki. Other live performances include work with Pat Simmons of The Doobie Brothers, Derek Trucks, Bill Watrous, and John Beasley.

Merlyn spent ten years living and working in Tokyo, Japan. He has performed live, on television, and recorded with many Japanese artists such as Sekai no Owari, Vaundy, SMAP, Dean Fujioka, Masaki Suda, Niizuma Seiko, MIWA, and Kenichi Asai.

He also held a position as an instructor at Tokyo School of Music.

Merlyn is currently touring and recording with Sekai no Owari and Vaundy in Japan.

アメリカではカントリーミュージック界の大御所、ウィリー・ネルソン (Willie Nelson) やスカパンクバンド No Doubt のボーカリストと知られる、グウェン・ステファニー (Gwen Stefani) のツアーとレコーディングに参加。ウィリー・ネルソンの息子ルーカス(Lukas Nelson) が在籍するバンド、プロミス・オブ・ザ・リアル(Promise of the Real)の初代メンバーとしても活動していた。

加えて、テイラー・スウィフト (Taylor Swift)、エド・シーラン (Ed Sheeran)、サラ・ブライトマン (Sarah Brightman) のバックとして各国のテレビ番組に出演。

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

Hi! I am a violinist who just moved here from London. I graduated from the Royal College of Music in London and am currently doing Master of concert at Haute École de Musique de Genève.

I have been teaching intensively since first year of Bachelor and have had students from various age groups with different goals. My main teaching materials are suzuki/abrsm, but I will flexibly accommodate to your needs.

I can guide your practice so you find passion in playing the violin, and show you how to make a round/healthy sound with your instrument. Or say if you just would like to play a tune you heard from a video, I can teach you how.

This course is designed to build skills in either playing the cello, music theory, ear training, or all three! If you are seeking to learn cello this course is a great place to start. I am most familiar with the suzuki books, however I am dedicated to making cello and music as widely available as I can, so if access to sheet music is a challenge I am open to pursuing alternate lesson plans.
If you are a current music student who isn't seeking to learn cello but would like support in Music Theory or Aural Skills (also often referred to as Ear Training), I am more than happy to provide tutoring in those subjects.
