My lesson is designed for all ages and levels, from the bigginer to the professional. I would like to help my students to facilitate and motivate to find their own musical senses and cretivity, also fluid keyboard technique.

I was very fortunate to study at The Juilliard School, Temple University as a keyboardist, since I studied under a lot of great faculty members and had lots of professional experiences.
I would love to share how I developed myself as a professional musician with my students.

I have taught private piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities since 2010, including teaching for the Salvation Army Art Institution in Philadelphia from 2015 - 2017.
I participated in the Dorothy Taubman Seminar in 2016 and added this to my pedagogy to help pianists safely develop with the piano technique.
Based on my experience, I will help my students to improve their keyboard skill, reading music and counting rhythms, musical interpretations, and good practice habits.

About Me

Praised for her “Delicate performing with pureness, clarity, and sweetness” (the Hancock Herald, NY), Hanbyeol (Han) is an accomplished early keyboard specialist.
The first-prize winner of The Wanda Landowska International Harpsichord Competition, she has appeared as a harpsichord soloist and collaborative artist in many festivals and concerts in South Korea, North America and Europe.

Han has taught private piano lessons to students of all ages and abilities since 2010, including teaching at Temple University and at The Salvation Army Arts Institution in Philadelphia.
She participated in the Dorothy Taubman Seminar in 2016 and added this to her pedagogy to help children safely develop with the piano.

Han earned her Graduate Diploma in Historical Performance at The Juilliard School. She previously studied with Enrico Baiano in Naples, Italy, privately and at Conservatorio di Cimarosa. Currently, she is pursuing her DMA program in historical keyboard at Temple University where she completed two Master's Degrees, double majoring in piano and harpsichord performance with a minor in fortepiano.

Han has served as the primary instructor for Harpsichord for Pianists and as a Teaching Assistant at Temple University’s Boyer College of Music and Dance since 2023, supporting courses in Baroque Performance Practice, Secondary Piano, and Early Music Ensemble. From 2021 to 2023, worked as a guest artist and assistant with The Juilliard School’s Pre-College and Music Advancement Program. Earlier, was a music instructor at The Salvation Army Arts Institution in Philadelphia from 2015 to 2017. Being highly skilled in sight-reading, I have often realised how valuable and enjoyable it is to possess that “gift.” After more than ten years of teaching students of different levels and aspirations, I have observed a common thread: regardless of their goals, all were eager to improve their ability to read and interpret new, unfamiliar music.

Currently, I am developing a multifaceted approach designed to help students understand a composition at first sight. About the Lesson

I am a patient and dedicated piano teacher, working with students of all ages and levels. Every lesson is tailored to your goals, learning style, and musical interests.

I teach a wide range of styles, from classical to modern music (jazz, blues, pop, etc.).

I can teach you reading sheet music or playing by ear, depending on your preference and goals. I can also help you improvise and create your own music in the styles you enjoy.

I also have strong experience working with students with ADHD and dyslexia, adapting lessons to make learning clear, structured, and engaging.

I focus on healthy technique, musicality, and effective practice habits to build confidence and avoid tension or injury. I also help students develop a technique that prevents common issues such as tendonitis, which is very important for long-term playing. You’ll also receive support outside lessons, including answers, feedback, and video explanations when needed.

I prepare students for ABRSM and Trinity exams (Grades 1–8 and Diplomas), but I also teach students who simply want to enjoy playing. My students range from age 3 to 75+, and all make meaningful progress.

Online lessons are just as effective as in-person ones. I use a professional multi-camera setup and high-quality audio so you can clearly see technique and movement. Most of my lessons (95%+) are taught online.

Curriculum

There is no single method that fits everyone, so I adapt all materials to you.

For beginners, I often use Alfred’s Basic Piano Library. For classical and jazz development, I work with ABRSM and Trinity syllabi. I’m always happy to use other methods if you prefer.

Alongside structured materials, I include music you enjoy and focus on essential skills that apply across all styles—from classical to modern music.

I teach for all levels, from children starting from zero to students who want to prepare certifications at the Conservatories, passing through amateurs or simply curious of any age.

I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. I hold a Bachelor’s degree in Musicology and have professional experience teaching music theory. I am currently studying Sonology at the Royal Conservatoire in The Hague, with a focus on sound, electronic and contemporary music.
