My name is Marina, I am from Malaga, I have been playing the violin since I was 4 years old and I would love to be able to transmit my passion for it to you. I am currently studying my 2nd year of Higher Education in Barcelona and I have worked with beginner students previously. I can also teach musical language reinforcement classes. I always try to adapt to the interests and needs of each student and with all kinds of repertoire: Mozart, Bach, John Lennon, Richard Clayderman, Imagine Dragons... There is music for all tastes! I receive students who are just curious to try the instrument to people with a clearer goal, any level is welcome. I am passionate about pedagogy and I believe that when starting to study an instrument the most important thing is the posture, the individual study method and the motivation for the instrument. In this course, I will teach you the first steps to start playing classical piano. We will begin to do some hand placement exercises, scales, arpeggios and different exercises and then begin to play simple works, which will become more complicated over time. The duration of the classes in principle is 1 hour. If you would like less or more time, we can manage it. In principle the classes are taught in my studio, but everything could be discussed. Depending on the area I could move.

I have finished my Master degree in Piano at the Conservatori del Liceu (Barcelona) this year, and I have many years of experience teaching, children and younger students, as well as adult people. Currently I am working in a music school, but at the same time I give private lessons.

Musical language classes (Harmony, Literacy, Rhythm, Auditory Training) for school reinforcement or self-interest. I firmly believe in the importance of knowing how to read music and this is exactly what I teach first, obviously adapting the method to the age of my students: knowing how to read music is knowing one more language, which, if learned well, won’t ever be forgotten (like riding a bicycle!) and it is an invaluable wealth. Starting from that point I teach the position of the hand, the arm and the whole body at the piano, the fundamentals of the piano technique (giving great importance to the percussive movement of the finger and the distribution of weight), the understanding of musical language, the expression of the personality through the keyboard, the search for touch and knowledge of piano repertoire.

For many people improvisation is a scary word and having to improvise in a group or band is an alarming prospect. However, this really does not need to be the case. As long as you have a basic knowledge of how to play your instrument you will be able to improvise. Once you know the principle of how chords are formed you will soon be improvising with ease. If you play a keyboard instrument you will be able to improvise your own pieces and be able to entertain your friends at a moments notice. On the other hand if you play in a band or a group you will be well equipped to do a real 'jam' session. Whether you play a single line instrument (flute, saxophone, trumpet, violin etc.) or keyboard instruments, this class is for you.
