I teach the theory of rhythm and its practice.
I can provide an all-encompassing progressive approach, or some training on a specific music piece (provided the piece really is at your level).
Basic rhythms, or complex rhythm found in music from the Renaissance to contemporary classical music... anything can be addressed.
Again, Rhythm needs to be clear in your mind and your body, therefore the lesson will be tailored around you and the score.
My students often tell me I am very patient.
I'd rather say I am understanding and straightforward.
Actually, please know that I am also demanding: While there is no difficulty that I cannot understand, (and I found it thrilling to find a solution when the student seems stuck) yet I am not interested in approximation.

About Me

Music and teaching are my passion.
I am both a performer (organist) and a French Music Conservatory Professor.
I teach two subjects I love: Organ Performance and Formation Musicale (sort of a Musicianship or Ear Training course that would go up to a high graduate specialized level).
I have taught extensively, at all levels.
I pioneered live online musicianship lessons in France in 2011, and was since led to teach online in Europe, Asia, the U.S.A., and Madagascar.
I believe that the best qualification for a teaching individual is this: Being able to understand students and help them progress.
If you have a difficulty, nothing pleases me more than rising up to the challenge and helping you succeed.
My approach to teaching is not dogmatic, but rather pragmatic, empirical, and based on neurosciences when possible. I am not choosing methods or teaching tools because they are old or new, but I am choosing them (old and new) if they work for YOU.

I have been trained in Europe and in the United States. I was awarded a Lurcy Scholarship (Fulbright-France partner) given annually to six French citizens for study in the United States.
A graduate of the Eastman School of Music at the University of Rochester with a Master of Music in organ performance and literature, I am also a graduate of the Nancy and Metz Conservatories, with degrees in musicianship (ear training), organ, harpsichord, and baroque chamber music performance.
I also won the First Prize in supérieur level at the 1996 "Concours International d'Orgue de Lorraine," president of the board of examiners: Marie-Claire Alain.

About the Lesson

I can teach you reading sheet music or playing by ear, depending on your preference and goals. I can also help you improvise and create your own music in the styles you enjoy.

I focus on healthy technique, musicality, and effective practice habits to build confidence and avoid tension or injury. Online lessons are just as effective as in-person ones. I use a professional multi-camera setup and high-quality audio so you can clearly see technique and movement. Most of my lessons (95%+) are taught online.

Curriculum

There is no single method that fits everyone, so I adapt all materials to you.

For beginners, I often use Alfred’s Basic Piano Library. For classical and jazz development, I work with ABRSM and Trinity syllabi. I’m always happy to use other methods if you prefer.

Alongside structured materials, I include music you enjoy and focus on essential skills that apply across all styles—from classical to modern music.

I teach online via Zoom, using software which allows you to see the exact keys I'm playing on my keyboard.

My teaching method is to focus on whatever type of music the student loves most, and to build from there. I believe that many people give up their dream of playing an instrument simply because they aren't inspired enough, so my goal is to instill a love for music, whatever that means personally for each individual student.

Everyone learns differently and has their own pace and rhythm. I have some students who like to have a regular weekly or biweekly lesson, and others who just get in touch once in a while when they have digested the previous lesson and feel ready to build on it. Whatever the case, I am very flexible and we can figure out what works best for you.

A bit about me:

Originally honing my skills on the British jazz scene and holding residencies in restaurants and bars around the country, I then went on to tour the world playing on cruise ships, hotels and festivals. I returned to London to complete my master's in jazz piano at the Guildhall School of Music, and during this time performed regularly at Ronnie Scotts, The Vortex and many other venues across the UK. I then spent two years in South America learning about salsa and Cuban music. I now mainly work as a transcriber, writing sheet music for all instruments including full Big Band scores. I have also worked extensively in musical theatre, most recently as musical director for 'Jersey Boys', and on the first US national tour of 'Summer: the Donna Summer Musical'. About me
I obtained a Grade 8 diploma in Music Theory and also a Grade 8 Piano from the Royal Schools of Music. In addition, I hold a diploma in Audio Engineering from Hofa College. I am active as a music artist and producer myself. Thanks to this combination of classical training and practical experience, I know how important it is to make theory understandable, concrete, and musical. I use my own piano during lessons to clarify everything visually and audibly.
