Private Maths Tutor for GCSE and A-level Students.
From 19 £ /h
I specialize in tutoring GCSE and A-level students hoping to push themselves to achieve their academic goals.
My method is quite simple. Each session will be focused on one subtopic in the curriculum, for example, surds. I will begin with a short mini-test to see what level they are currently working at, this will help me adjust the lesson accordingly. We will subsequently go through the topics material and finish with a few questions, the last of which will be very challenging. I am a strong believer that each student can be their own teacher. Often, I like to take a step back and allow for students to really think about each stage of their working themselves. Mathematics can quite easily be seen as a subject where you learn a formula and put in your values, but it can actually be so much more than that.
I have been tutoring since year 10, beginning with a student in the year above me helping them to achieve their A target. Since then I have taught a range of students from Year 7-Year 12 with varying strengths and weaknesses. Having recently gone through the GCSE system myself I am well aware of what it takes to achieve and exceed predicted grades and I love what I do.

About Me
I have always had an urge to learn. I love the feeling of discovering a new fact or solving a problem. But I enjoy even more the experience of sharing this knowledge with others, this is why I love teaching. I have only just gone through the education system myself, taking my A-levels this year so I know how it feels to be a student at this time. My method primarily aims to make the student an independent thinker. A skill which is rarely acquired but essential to pass Mathematics qualifications is confidence and I take my lessons as an opportunity to try and increase my student's. I hope to go on to study Mathematics at University in the autumn and later become a teacher.
Education
I achieved an A* in Mathematics during my first sixth form year and a 9, A*, A and A*(Distinction) in GCSE Maths, Statistics, Additional Maths and Further maths respectively. I am also predicted to achieve an A* in A level Physics and Further Maths at the end of this academic year.
Experience / Qualifications
Being under 18 my list of job opportunities is minimal and primarily voluntary. I volunteered for 3 months in a Pet Shop and for 6 months as an after school care worker in Elm Grove Primary school. I love working with children and seeing and helping them develop into young adults fills me with pride. After university, I hope to go on to continue in this line of work ad become a Maths teacher at GCSE or A level standard.
