About Me
Welcome to my profile!
My name is Aspasia and I was born and raised in Greece! I have a bachelor degree in preschool education, and now I'm current medical student.

Being interested in children’s developmental abilities, I am taking special training in the field of education. One of them is the annual Special Education program organized by National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Moreover, since 2016, I have been working in children's summer camps with children from 6 years to 17 years old. Each camp is 22 days long and within that framework I was responsible for children's program, educational activities, gymnastics, entertainment and care.

I have also worked with children with special needs at both public and private children camps. Since 2019 I have been working at a summer camp for disabled people under the auspices of the Athenian municipality. Up to now, I have worked with children with autism and ADHD, with mental retardation, mentally disabled, children with chronic incurable diseases (aids and diabetes type one) and children with cerebral palsy. As I believe that the safety of the children is of extreme importance, I am taking special first aid training by the Hellenic Red Cross from September of 2019. Thenceforward, I am offering my services voluntarily to Hellenic Red Cross, having participated in very important actions and disasters. Some of them are: volunteering during the spread of the covid-19 pandemic in the men's and women's penitentiaries of Korydallos in Athens. In addition, I participated in the outbreak of a refugee issue that arose on the island of Tzia and, finally, I participated in the mission that was sent to the refugee camp of Lesvos island, in Kara te Pe, providing medical care and helping the RFL (Restoring Family Links) office of Red Cross, after the fire that broke out in Moria area.

Finally, being a professional chess coach, and FIDE arbiter, I have been working with preschool children (from 3.5 years) to adolescents up to 15 years and adults. I experiment with various methods that allow me to see how I can transfer knowledge and manage preschool children and adolescents to a different educational context.

A good example is that ; as a professional musician, I always try to include music in my classes as an educational tool designed to improve the development of my students, regardless of whether they have disabilities or follow a typical developmental course. I believe that music and its use in every way possible, both in the classroom and in the intervention, has only a positive impact on students' progress and development.

Chess is often depicted in popular culture as a game for the elderly, but this is not true. Chess is a wonderful game that does not divide people by age, gender, race, religion or physical condition. It is a game that embraces everyone who chooses to explore it. Especially for children, I’ve witnessed the benefits of a young person’s dedication to the game firsthand. I’ve seen countless ways that playing competitively has enhanced education – not just with the nuts and bolts of the game itself, but from all the psychological benefits chess has given to them.

The range of emotions present during learning chess, serves as a strong reminder of how important chess can be in the lives of young people, despite its reputation. Chess is like magic.

I am waiting for your messages, at whatever age you are, to explore this magical world together, to experiment, to have fun and to see how far our potential can go. In addition, as a preschool teacher, I offer lessons to infants older than 30 months.

The courses are offered either in my place or online, in the difficult covid times we are going through.

Have you ever wondered what everything you see, feel and taste around you really consists of?
The answer is CHEMISTRY! Chemistry is everywhere in the world around us! It's in the food you eat, clothes you wear, water you drink, medicines, air, cleaners... you name it.
Chemistry helps you to understand the world around you. Why do leaves change color in the fall? Why are plants green? How is cheese made? What is in soap and how does it clean? These are all questions that can be answered by applying some chemistry lessons with me.
Chemistry sometimes is called the "central science" because it connects other sciences to each other, such as biology, physics, geology, and environmental science.

Why learn chemistry?

Because you will develop...

1. A logical and independent mind.
2. Excellent analytical skills.
3. Flexibility.
4. Scientific and numerical skills.
5. Meticulous attention to detail and accuracy.
6. Written and oral communication skills.

Contact me to explore the magical world of chemistry together!

Need help with geography, biology, or chemistry? As a 33-year-old civil engineer, I'm happy to help! I'll learn at your own pace, using plenty of examples to illustrate the material. I have years of experience teaching both simple and complex subjects.

The lessons run as follows. First, we look together for the student's biggest stumbling blocks. These can be related to the subject matter as well as to the study method. From there, I work at the pace of the student and encourage them to ask as many questions as possible. I also give tips and tricks, and improve their working methods where necessary. During the lesson I give many examples to make the subject matter more interesting and we solve exercises together. Once practiced from the lesson, I mastered challenging exercises to also test the deeper understanding of the subject matter. In this way I try to optimally prepare the student for his/her exam test.

However, learning should also be enjoyable. That is why I always strive for a bond with the student through a spontaneous and positive approach. I am also very patient. All this to solve and improve the problems.

I teach Biochemistry through a clinically integrated and concept-driven approach designed to build deep molecular understanding while directly linking biochemical principles to human physiology and disease. My instruction emphasizes the translation of biochemical mechanisms into clinical reasoning, enabling learners to interpret laboratory findings, understand pathogenesis, and apply metabolic knowledge in real medical contexts.

Core Areas of Instruction

My teaching covers foundational and advanced topics, including:

Enzymology: Kinetics, inhibition, regulation, and clinical correlations of enzyme dysfunction.

Metabolism: Carbohydrate, lipid, amino acid, and nucleotide metabolism with integrated regulatory control.

Molecular Biology: DNA replication, transcription, translation, epigenetics, and gene regulation.

Bioenergetics: Mitochondrial function, oxidative phosphorylation, and metabolic adaptation.

Clinical Biochemistry: Biochemical basis of disease states such as metabolic disorders, endocrine abnormalities, and inherited enzymopathies.

Laboratory Interpretation: Mechanistic understanding behind biomarkers, metabolic panels, and diagnostic assays.

Teaching Methodology

Instruction is structured to ensure mastery rather than memorization. Students are guided to:

Analyze biochemical pathways as dynamic, regulated systems rather than isolated reactions.

Understand why abnormalities occur at the molecular level in disease.

Apply biochemical reasoning to clinical scenarios and problem-solving exercises.

Develop long-term conceptual retention through pathway integration and mechanistic mapping.

Educational Philosophy

Biochemistry is presented not as an abstract basic science, but as the molecular language of medicine. By integrating physiology, genetics, and pathology into biochemical teaching, students gain the ability to connect molecular events to patient-level outcomes, forming a strong scientific foundation for advanced medical study and clinical practice.

In the IGCSE and CIE (Cambridge International Education)curricula, Genetics is a part of Biology under the broader topics of inheritance and variation. It is covered in both IGCSE Biologyand AS/A Level Biology. Below is a breakdown of what you can expect in each:

IGCSE Biology (Cambridge - 0610/0970)
The topic of genetics is introduced under the following key areas:

1. Variation and Inheritance
- Genetic variation: Understanding differences caused by genetic and environmental factors.
- Inheritance:
- Definition of key terms: genes, alleles, dominant, recessive, homozygous, heterozygous, phenotype, genotype.
- Monohybrid inheritance (using Punnett squares to predict offspring ratios).
- Concepts of dominant and recessive traits.
- Structure of DNA:
- Basic structure of DNA (double helix) and its role in carrying genetic information.
- Mutations:
- Causes (e.g., radiation, chemicals) and effects of mutations on organisms.

2. Selective Breeding and Genetic Engineering (basic concepts):
- Selective breeding in animals and plants to produce desired traits.
- Introduction to genetic modification (GM), though details are limited in IGCSE.

---

CIE AS and A Level Biology (9700)
At the A Level, genetics is covered in greater depth. Key concepts include:

1. DNA and Protein Synthesis:
- Structure of DNA, RNA, and nucleotides.
- Transcription, translation, and protein synthesis.
- Genetic code and its universal nature.

2. Cell Division:
- Mitosis and meiosis.
- Significance of meiosis in genetic variation (crossing over, independent assortment).

3. Inheritance:
- Mendelian genetics: monohybrid and dihybrid crosses.
- Codominance and multiple alleles.
- Sex-linked inheritance (e.g., haemophilia, color blindness).
- Pedigree analysis.

4. Gene Technology:
- Recombinant DNA technology (genetic modification and cloning).
- Applications of genetic engineering in medicine and agriculture.

5. Mutations:
- Gene mutations and their effects.
- Chromosomal abnormalities.

Need help with maths or biology?
As a biomedical scientist with a PhD in Medicine and Health Sciences, I enjoy helping students of all ages to better understand the material and learn with greater confidence. We work at your own pace and in a way that suits your learning style.

How does a lesson work?
In the first session, we identify the main difficulties together. From there, we build up step by step. I encourage questions and provide practical tips and strategies to make studying more effective.

We work through exercises together, discuss examples, and then move on to more challenging problems to deepen understanding. This approach ensures you’re well prepared for your tests and exams.

A positive learning experience
Learning should be enjoyable. With a patient, motivating and clear approach, I create a relaxed environment where it’s okay to make mistakes, and no question is too much to ask — because that’s how real learning happens.

Interested?
Feel free to get in touch for more information or to arrange your first lesson. I’ll be happy to help you move forward!
