I have been teaching for 26 years at the university level. As a native of the United States and holding a Ph.D. in Spanish Language, I am intrigued at teaching BOTH English and Spanish Languages to those who are interested in improving their oral and written skills, preparing for Cambridge Exams, or DELE Spanish Exams. My classes focus on oral communication and use interactive web pages, technology, current events, practical language to help students break down communication barriers while feeling at ease with either language. It is also important to tailor the classes to the students specific needs while achieveing these goals. Classes are offered from Beginner to Advanced Levels.
Always remember, people will never as how much Spanish or English do you write, rather how much English or Spanish do you speak?

About Me
For 18 years I was a Professor of Spanish and Humanities at Fundación FSU International Programs Valencia, where my focus was on teaching courses in Spanish Language and Humanities. During my 18 years with the program, I taught and prepared various levels of Spanish Language, designed courses, and supervised the students on various cultural trips with the program where I served as a historical guide and organizer for logistics. Moreover, I was also responsable for mentoring and counseling students with academic issues regarding their course planning for the Humanities Major here at the foundation. In addition to this academic mentor role, I was also called upon by Student Services here in the foundation, to help resolve student conflicts, or discipline issues that would arise.
Specific teaching areas that I have focused on in Spanish include the social, economic, and popular cultural importance of the SEAT 600 in Spanish Post Civil War Literature, Franquismo, History and Civilization of Valencia, Bullfighting, and the material culture of the Fallas Festival. Furthermore, I designed a very unique course for the FSU Program called “Satire, Fire, and Artisanship” which discusses the history and development of Las Fallas, but also offers a international comparison of festivals in Spain, Mexico, Phillippines, Italy, and USA. Moreover, I have used my position as Vice President, Vice Secretary, and Historian in the fallas community to help give a unique insider perspective that serves as the basis of the festivals course. My Second área of concentration is the Humanities where I specialize in History, Literature, and Human Rights.
Outside of the foundation, I have had the opportunity to teach English as a Second Language. This has brought me into contact with students of multicultural backgrounds here in Valencia. AS a result, I have become a Certified Examiner of oficial Pearson Language Examinations, trained SPanish faculty in level B” English according to European Union standards, and I have supervised and taught courses on Cambridge English Exams (FCE, KET, PET, and CAE)
In addition to 18 years of teaching and research, I hold a Master in Foreign Languages and a Bachelor In Spanish. I have also attended and given various conferences in the USA and Valencia on a variety of subjects.
I am a very responsible, creative, empathetic, compassionate individual that puts lots of value on communication with the students. My students are teh center of my attention and dedication. Having the privilege to mold young men and women is a great responsibility and I welcome that opportunity to help them along the way to realizing their dreams and futures.
