About Me
I am a teacher with a strong commitment to professional standards, learner success, and holistic development. I keenly believe in making learning exciting and engaging and I think this can be achieved by being a facilitator in the classroom handing responsibility to the learner. I believe that teaching has to stimulate, whether this is through exciting multi-media technology in which pupils create videos and websites in literacy or by taking pupils outside to study the natural world and investigating materials in science by conducting experiments to generate theories and hypotheses.
Indeed, in computing, I have been using Scratch to teach pupils about coordinates in mathematics interlinking the lessons to support their understanding. Whilst in English, we have been studying sustainability and climate damage due to plastic in the oceans and I have taught pupils to make presentations on apps such as iMovie to develop their speaking and listening skills. I believe that all pupils need to be stimulated in the classroom and so my teaching challenges pupils to think at a greater depth, to reason and grapple with tools that they will need to use if they are to excel in the future. Crucially, I want to take pupils outside the classroom so that they recognize how their learning is connected to the fabric of the world around them. Making pupils inspired about their learning is what drives me as a teacher.

Experience / Qualifications
QTS / NQT - qualified
DBS- checked
September 2nd 2019 – February 28th 2020 Portobello Primary School KS2 Class Teacher Year 4.
Most recently, I have worked as a year 4 teacher at Portobello Primary School. This involved ensuring progress and successful transitions for the children in the LKS2 curriculum. I was also part of a successful MTC campaign and have been on training with the LA authority in Gateshead to develop and improve recall of times tables multiplication facts.
Excelsior Academy - May 2019 – July 2019 KS2 teacher Year 4.
I have also worked as a part of a large multi-academy in Newcastle. This involved working with a range of children from a variety of backgrounds and ethnicities. A large proportion were EAL children and so differentiating my learning was a clear part of pedagogy.
January 2018 – February 2019 Manley Park Primary School KS2 Class Teacher Year 3
As a recently qualified teacher (RQT), I have just completed my NQT induction in year three at Manley Park Primary School, an outstanding school in the South Manchester area. Through structured feedback against the teaching and learning standards, this experience has supported my professional development alongside my understanding of safeguarding protocols and how to provide varying pastoral care for different pupils. This experience has also developed my knowledge at ensuring standardized assessments of all children, identifying barriers for children and making sure that all children make progress particularly by following EHCP reports and ensuring that out of class interventions are successful and controlled.
