I am atypical teacher, as I believe people learn foreign language the best when they are not focused on learning it.
So, my lessons are usually discussion or Q&A sessions, with student's level of proficiency take into a consideration.
I also advise students to practice as much as they can, to learn songs, read newspapers or books and watch movies in English, even if they didn't fully understand it.
Our brain still learns the best by repeating and with languages not being math to always adhere to logic, learning whole phrases, expressions or sentences by heart is the most efficient way to adopt new language.
