Group tuition can be arranged and a sliding scale for the tuition fee will be applied depending on the number of students involved.

About Me

I have extensive teaching experience in schools as a Science teacher, specialising in Chemistry, and at university as a lecturer in Organic Chemistry. I am a member of the Tutors Association.

I have a BSc (Hons.) degree and PhD in Chemistry. I have taught Science as a fully qualified teacher for secondary school education since 2006 and am a qualified Higher Education lecturer. I enjoy tutoring and my students have all benefited enormously from individualised support in preparation for their examinations.

At A Level I have taught the entire Chemistry course, my students have taken the AQA, Edexcel and OCR and both the Edexcel and Cmbridge International A level Chemistry examinations and achieved the highest grades. I have helped student prepare for Oxbridge interviews through extension lessons beyond the A level specification, and coached students for technical interviews.

I am qualified to teach in Higher Education as well as from KS3 to KS5 as a Teacher of Science specialising in Chemistry at A Level. I have more than 15 years’ experience teaching KS3 and KS4 with more than 20 years’ experience teaching A level chemistry including 8 years online tuition.

Over the last fifteen years I have established a successful private teaching business, both face-to-face and on-line, offering private tuition to students preparing for exams at the following levels: Common Entrance, GCSE, AS, A Level, IB and undergraduate degrees. I am an examination marker for Pearson Edexcel for more than 6 years. I have completed over 2500 hours online tuition in the past three years. Since 2024 I have taught A level Chemistry in a hybrid model with online theory and face-to-face practical and theory lessons using the Google Classroom platform for online teaching as well as IGCSE sciences in a virtual school.

Extending students to ensure that they master the full exam specification as well as being able to deal with material beyond the boundaries of their formal exam specification has been a feature of my teaching and tuition to help the most able students prepare for UK Chemistry Olympiads and the Cambridge C3L6 challenge.

A highly professional individual, I have been responsible for student learning as a teacher and their welfare as a form tutor, motivated by helping every student achieve their full potential in both schools and universities. I have experience of teaching students across the whole ability range, in the state and independent sectors as well as chemistry and ancillary chemistry undergraduate students.

I have acted as a Practical Endorsement Visiting Monitor to assess the replacement to coursework in the A level specification in schools and colleges for six years.

Tutoring can help strengthen subject comprehension, boost confidence, and build important learning skills. This gives students individualized attention that they don’t get in a crowded classroom. This is designed for those who struggle to keep up, as well as those who aren’t challenged enough. A lot of people say you are either a math person or not. However, I reject that belief. I believe everyone is a math person with the right guidance which is what I provide. The best way to build confidence and increase grades is to help students attain marks in assessments. I focus a lot on exam technique, working on practice questions with students to observe trends in the questions asked and mark schemes. Working in this way means students understand how examiners expect them to answer certain questions so that they don’t have to guess in the exam.

I also focus on building logical and problem-solving skills in students, so that students are able to solve any problem that they encounter in science and outside of the science curriculum. I also ensure to work on maths skills, as these make up a large part of physics exams but are also needed in biology and chemistry.
