Spanish for adults with a native teacher & historian — speak with confidence, understand the culture behind the words
From 21.33 £ /h
Hola. I'm a native Spanish speaker from Spain and a trained historian, and I teach Spanish to adults online at whatever level you're starting from.
My classes are built around you: what you need the language for, how you learn best, and the pace that actually fits your life. Some students come to finally hold a real conversation; some are preparing for life or work in a Spanish-speaking country; some are picking the language back up after years away. We begin by figuring out where you are and where you want to go, and we build from there — speaking from the very first session, because a language is something you use, not something you store away.
What I bring, beyond being a native speaker, is a historian's eye. For me a language is never just grammar and vocabulary; it's a way into a culture, a history, a way of seeing the world. So as we work, the words come with the life behind them: why we say things the way we do, where an expression comes from, what's actually going on in Spain and the wider Spanish-speaking world right now. You won't only learn to speak Spanish; you'll start to understand the world it opens.
If you're after pure, mechanical exam-drilling and nothing else, I'm probably not your teacher. But if you want to speak with confidence and genuinely understand what you're saying (and the culture it belongs to) I'd love to work with you.
Classes are one-to-one, by webcam, and I can lean on English whenever you need a hand finding your footing.

About Me
I believe teaching begins with a relationship, not a syllabus. Before anything else, I want to understand who you are, why you've come to Spanish, and how you learn and from there we build something that's genuinely yours.
I'm a native Spanish speaker and a trained historian, and I've been teaching for nearly five years, from one-to-one lessons to coordinating language programmes and supporting other teachers. What I love most is the moment a student stops translating in their head and simply speaks — and I'm patient, calm, and a little stubborn about helping you get there. My classes are conversational and built around you: you do most of the talking, make most of the mistakes (the good kind), and slowly make the language your own.
For me a language is far more than grammar. It's a way into how people think, what they value, how they see the world... so culture and history come woven into the words, never as a dry add-on. The students I enjoy most are the curious ones: people who don't only want to pass or perform, but to genuinely understand. That said, wherever you're starting from and whatever your goal (confidence, work, travel, an exam, or simply the pleasure of it), I'll meet you there.
If that sounds like the kind of learning you're after, get in touch. The first step is just a conversation.
