About Me

I love teaching and learning. I was born in Bolivia, lived in Nicaragua, France and have been based in the Netherlands for a long time. I had good and bad teachers at school and university, just like everyone. The support and drive of those singular teacher, however, has shaped my path. I value the influence that teachers can have and understand the value of one-on-one support in ones learning path. I strive to help out my students, whatever their abilities may be.

I am currently studying a masters degree in Public International Law at the University of Leiden, rounding out my undergraduate background in Liberal Arts and Sciences, where I majored in Global Justice at Leiden University College.

I studied Spanish Philology and Literature and learned how to become a teacher at Universidad Nacional de Salta, Argentina. I've also completed a specific ELE training certification from Universidad Europea Madrid, and I'm certified as DELE examiner by Instituto Cervantes.

My name is Dani and I am Mexican. I always ask my students about their specific goals and their preferred way of learning a language. In my classes I like to take a conversational approach, but this depends entirely on the needs of my students. I use different books with different didactic material, mostly Aula Plus and Bitacora. I also try to practice all skills: talking, writing and listening. If the student wants it, I leave homework, which I correct during the week before the next lesson, so that we can make the most of the lesson time. I share a word or phrase of the week with my students to build a useful vocabulary. Teaching is my passion. I feel motivated by the progress of my students, which I believe also keeps them motivated. German and Spanish are my native languages and I speak fluent English, I also speak fluent Dutch (with a little accent). Therefore, I can explain concepts in all these languages. However, I prefer to speak Spanish as much as possible, also for the beginners lessons, because I believe that people learn the language better that way.

I have a FPELE certificate: Spanish as a Foreign Language Teacher Training. And I have taught A1 to B2 level at a language institute in Spain.
